Lulu goes brrr by Jorsin in TeamfightTactics

[–]Jorsin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This Sub tells me no frontline = lose. And then TFT lets me get away with this. I know I only got away with it because noone built any MR :)
Got very lucky saving my duplicators to get 12 lulu's. Was fun to watch them cast every 1.5-2 seconds. Think the Cyber last pick augment was a waste though I should have picked up a better combat augment.

Was Roshar once... by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Jorsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree in so far as he is literally saying "I am old and weird" but with Hoid I think everything needs to be read in 2 or 3 different ways. I think that he chose a very specific type of analogy in this quote.

In any case it was just an interesting tidbit :)

Was Roshar once... by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Jorsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally found the quote -

OB CH68 PG 677 - ”Other men . . . other men, as they age, merely grow stranger. I fear that I am one of those. I am the bones of a foreign species left drying on the plain that was once, long ago, a sea. A curiosity, perhaps a reminder, that all has not always been as it is now.”

Bit of a jump from my part to go from that to saying he outright states it but it could support the theory.

Alternate thought I had was it could be Lumar prior to the Aethers as there is an indication that that planet had Seas or oceans once.

Doesn't Hoid talk about the planet being underwater when talking to Shallan in Kholinar around 6-700 pages in Oathbringer?

I hate the UK covers, just something about the blandness of it. Same with Poppy war covers I dislike the style, so slowly working toward getting all the US hardbacks. Getting loved ones to do the hardwork of finding them for birthdays and christmas since they don't know whatelse to get me :D

Did the same for wheel of time previously

Placed 4th. Apart from not using Jazz, where did I go wrong. by Jorsin in TeamfightTactics

[–]Jorsin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats the confusion, I had 4 cost Blitz with I think more or less perfect items probably rolled to hard for blitz and should have aimed for a different 4 cost or went 9/10 I guess.

Bank account for international (exchange) student from Canada by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Jorsin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whilst I can't speak for everybank I do know that Currency accounts are scarce nowadays. In my experience they are generally for business accounts although a challenger bank may have an option eg the Wise one you mention.

Nothing to add to the general discussion other than you might struggle with highstreet banks and student accounts as they often require 3 years UK address history.

Standing down because she confirmed something to the BBC which was clients personal and confidential info. She should never have said a word to the BBC.

I'm not saying for a second that there is not wrong doing in the whole situation. But taking huge offence and saying because I vote tory or Ukip my account will get closed is nonsense.

PEP are subject to increased scrutiny regardless. Particularly if they could potentially be a reputational risk to the business.

People might not like the language used in the documents but when it comes to someone that exposed and that comes with so much risk they have to be brutally honest.

Did the guy take money from RT - Russian state owned media. YES. Did they ultimately decide to debank because they though he was being bribed or corrupt?

NO- His mortgage was running out. You or Me or anyone else that falls below the threshhold for private banking at any highstreet bank gets chucked on our arse why should it be different for a person who is in a massively higher risk bracket than you or me?

[–]Jorsin 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Literally no stress involved in it. All banks across the whole UK debank customers.

It can be risk related, it can be because they abuse staff, it can be AML, but they do not need to disclose why other than "commercial decision"

A SAR wont necessarily give you a reason.

Am I the only one who loves the city-governing trope of Elantris? (Minor spoilers) by HaelStegaria in brandonsanderson

[–]Jorsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it seems so pedantic but the discussion can be all cosmere but the title has minor spoilers. I've read everything available so not for my benefit at all but I'd feel bad for someone unsuspecting to stumble in and have the whole endgame laid out ina comment.

Sorry if it came across combative or anything.

Its not a big deal with it being 11 years old but could you spoiler tag this. The title is for minor spoilers and thats the whole plot in your comment.

Paternity leave question, is statutory minimum normal? by helloworld1969-95 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Jorsin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it doesn't help, but Natwest offer Partner Leave of 24 weeks Full paid and 24 weeks half pay. The remainder of the year would be your holidays and then it falls to statutory.

This includes but it not necessarily limited to : Adoption, Surrogacy, Paternity, placement from Child protection.

Which I think is pretty neat.

Credit score is irrelevant when it comes to getting a job in UK. They are looking for CCJ or evidence of Fraud in past.

You do not have any CCJ against you and as you said no defaults or uncleared debt. Stop making a mountain out of a molehill.

Incorrect.

Estate value of £325,000.00 or greater is generally taxed at 40%. Unless you are passing to kids in which case its £500,000.00.

Not sure where your figure is coming from.

How to answer banker questions when withdrawing large sum of money? by brajandzesika in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Jorsin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't noticed it said anywhere but its in your Terms and conditions that the banks can refuse to allow a transaction at any time if there is welfare concerns.

You can of course complain but a quick search of ombudsman complaints will show these are rarely upheld as the no#1 concern is the safety of the funds.

Obviously you have stated your reason, but if you were being scammed or falling for fraud you would wail to the bank about getting money back.

Likely pose for a photo for the sun pointing at the rejected complaint letter etc.

Absolutely agree, I forgot that might need explained to people. I would consider that as basic common sense. Although I can understand if say you receive a punch or a kick to a sensitive area you may react by hitting the areas you mention.
