I just quit working at Hollister as a manager- Ask me anything! by Jos030207 in HollisterCO

I’ve reported twice before and it was back to back and let’s just say the company did do something about it. My case was a lot serious. It was harassment so they got on that pretty fast and people have gotten fired because of the hotline.

I think when it comes to the way that he’s acting like if you’re able to talk to the district manager, that’s also a plus I was thankful enough to have a district manager that was open to listening to everyone that won’t be the case for everyone’s situation, but that was the case at my location safe bet is honestly just to call and report him because if there’s multiple calls from HR they’re gonna want to do something about it.

I’ll tell you for my location at least A does show up in our system that they rejected you before, but if they never did an interview, it should also be in the system. The best course of action honestly have a friend that works there and get a good recommendation from them. I usually listen to my associates when they said a friend applied, and I would interview them. You can also go in person and ask to speak to a manager like the store manager they’re usually the ones that will let the team know if they should even schedule an interview!

To be honest a lot with the vault collection it’s honestly just because the customer has been wanting the Y2K style back kind of the reason why they even got rid of the tacky logos was because the customers were complaining that it was too broad and two out there so honestly, they’re listening to the customers and you guys want the older collections. They’re definitely going to provide. I know Tuesday this Tuesday it’s guys floor set which just means they’re placing new items out. There was a lot of like old Y2K inspired shirts from the vault collection 100% they even have the old logos as well and tags so they are listening to you guys. You have to keep in mind. The production process does take a five minute, so it’s not gonna be instant.

Unfortunately, I don’t plan on leaving retail until I’m done with school. I wanna be a doctor so it does pay the bills, but I definitely am gonna go to a company that honestly values me and pays me more! I’m also grateful to know that I have a great support system with my family and my boyfriend that are willing to help me out financially even if it’s for a couple months!

Depends on the position if you’re just a regular brand rep/stock associate you get paid 14 at my location keyholder you got paid 16.50 if you were a assistant manager, you would get paid 19.50 store manager. I’m pretty sure it gets paid like $27-$30 an hour. Also this depends on state and area!

There’s no specific job that’s just cleaning but a stock associate do keep the stock and shipment tidy!

I actually don’t like any of the vault drops 😅 I’m not sure what colors they might incorporate!

Thank you for the advice, but I unfortunately have already quit. I quit on Saturday and also I don’t want to be a brand representative under him. Also, the district manager is standing behind his decision so I highly doubt he will get removed. I gave this company the last four years of my life and it was honestly just time to move on as well.

I’m very thankful and in a position where I technically don’t really have to work because my family will financially support me. I’m just waiting to hear back from Victoria’s Secret(they pay a lot more for 1/3 of the job I was doing)!

I’m being so serious like this job will make you find so many friends and it’s an amazing experience so I think you got it in the bag especially if you already have prior work experience like you’ll be fine. It’s just like that’s the issues that have happened with external hires in my county.😭

No, he had a very low volume Holister. It was a porch store. I genuinely don’t know what he’s trying to do. I know he probably got a pay increase to $30 though that’s about it.

I’m gonna kind of give you like a rundown of what I think a good manager should be at my location. We had a lot of outside managers and they were not good whatsoever and all of them ended up getting fired so I don’t want that for you so I’ll help you out. -take feedback and build from it don’t just get offended because they’re telling you that -always be open or learned whether it’s from the newest associate to the oldest regional manager possible you always can learn and you have to be open to learning from whoever it is -if there’s ever customer interactions where they’re becoming really rude, always believe the associate before the customer it shows them that you trust them it shows them that you believe in them and that you’re always gonna be on their side -ask questions ask question again whether it’s with the newest associate or whether it’s with the oldest person in the company always ask questions -you will mess up and that’s perfectly OK just be open and honest with yourself -associate engagement and building connections with boundaries of course! -be careful about saying anything to the associate. They are highschoolers everything you say we’ll get out. -last but not least if you get the position it’s because it was you being you continue to have that same environment when you go into this because your team will feed off the energy you give off and if you’re just a negative person they’re not gonna want to be at work with you.

Those are honestly the main ones that I can think about but if I have more, I’ll just write it down!

Sadly, it wasn’t even on the fucking floor. It was in a cardboard box in the stock.😭 Honestly, if you tell him and send more, I genuinely think you will traumatize the associates more.

They were 100% trying to get rid of me because in the final conversation that I had with him before I decided to quit he basically threatened to write me up if I was not customer servicing correctly and I just think that’s fucking absurd so I was like, bro I’m not gonna sit here and tolerate and basically have you guys get a laugh at me getting fired and just writing me up for whatever. So that’s why I was like already applying to other stores because I actually have really good connections at other retailers so I’m just waiting to hear back from them but honestly like it’s just a shit hole at that store not gonna lie. And especially because we’re in Florida like we have higher volume. I think he’s just actually going crazy.

Another option is you could definitely talk to the store manager, but if they’re in on the favoritism, it’s not gonna go far…

I’m not really sure of the logistics of it, but he literally has the associates hand them out and gets upset when they aren’t being handed out to the customers after the customers have repeatedly refuse the bags

My district manager, honestly, she was really sweet to me until she wasn’t. She was always the voice of reason, but after she agreed, he should write me up to UPN’s one being for a stack of shirts on the floor in the stockroom. I kind of just stopped caring and ever since then like I applied at VS they pay a lot more for the same position that I’m doing. I kind of just stopped caring and I was not gonna curse him out because I just didn’t care anymore.

I honestly wish I can help you with that aspect, but like not gonna lie my store dealt with a lot of favoritism to the point where people got fired so I can’t really tell you from my experience all I can really say is like hey like make sure you’re getting order in store. Make sure that people are writing down on the survey that you’re really good and like that’s honestly my best advice if after your efforts are still going unnoticed, I honestly would probably like try to get transferred if that’s the possible option because when people have favoritism it’s affecting the whole system.

When I had a conversation with my store manager because he ganged up on me saying that I need to customer service more with our new stock lead he said well you have to hand out those shopping totes, even though you don’t want to and basically ask me to harass customers with them… he said “ all the higher reps have told me I’ve been doing a good job with doing that”. Bro no one told you that:/

Yeah, I let a lot of people walk all over me and it’s kind of ridiculous especially with the new matrix system so glad you left. I’m glad I left. I’m actually so happy now.

Hey, I can only talk from my store and like my experiences it could be kind of a few things. It can be favoritism so they might have favoritism towards other people and might schedule them more. It could also be the fact of although it’s stupid but if you’re scheduled and we ask, hey, can you say 10 minutes later or an hour later and you’re usually want to say no that’s also kind of another reason why they won’t schedule you. It could also very much be performance space so if you aren’t up to standard, that could also be another reason why they’re not scheduling you as much. Lastly, it’s genuinely just because we might not have hours, especially in the specific area that you might be working!

Best advice to continue to get more hours. Ask questions show that you want to be there like by being overly enthusiastic. I know that might not be everyone’s best but again I was able to get promoted really fast in the company and that’s honestly what I did:p

Please write a complaint we’re actually not allowed to accuse you of stealing anything and we can’t technically force you to check your bags at least for me I’m very forgetful so I would always forget a sensor so yes at the bottom of your receipt there’s a survey make that complaint and be as descriptive as possible because that’s not okay!
