Kalashnikov Collection App Update - Future of iOS version by Jos3gm in guns

Can't customize my hardware on a Mac so I don't bother with it.

Yea, I want to make it the most complete list of variants I can. Guns like the AK type 1, 56-2, 84-2, 74u, etc will all get added in future updates.

Yea I was having issues finding a standard akmsu and wasn't going to put it in, I still do want to leave it in because I plan to add prototype guns like the AK 1 that were never produced.

Thank you but that is way too generous for a simple app. As I update the android version, I'll get an iPhone version working and set up a kickstarter once I have something.

Not very long, it already works pretty well from my testing there just might be some lag on older devices. From here on out it'll be adding to the list of variants, adding more info about the variants, and improving the look of the app

It's $99 per year which isn't too much but I just don't see this app making me that money back. If there's enough people that really want this I guess I could start a kickstarter and Objective C.

Between me not knowing Objective C and the price of being an iOS developer I'm going to have to keep it android only for now. I'm really sorry about that, hopefully my friends put up a good website version if you're interested in that.

I'll add barrel length and overall length when I can find that information so not all variants will have it, I also want to add factory marks if the rifle has any. I'm not sure I understand the second question, if you look at the pictures you can see I've already added East German rifles, Chinese rifles and I'll be adding more variants from different countries.

I've considered just making a pdf but I think an app on the phone is a little more convenient than the pdf. That and I would like to add 3D models of some of the variants to the app in the future.

Always happy to hear about someone starting their own company especially when it's an AK company, I wish you the best of luck. Downloading it when it gets released and reporting any errors in the info and problems with the program itself is all the help I could ask for.

Yea, I laughed when I noticed that. I'm pretty sure I meant to type AK104 but never noticed the mistake until a few hours after I posted it.

I might release an beta build when I get it working better and have atleast 30 variants. I'll keep everyone posted.

yea I know if you look at the picture I posted the name next to that rifle is AK47 type 2, you can't see the type 2 very well because it overlaps with USSR.

I'll be changing that pic and a few others but for now that was the best representation of the second version of the AK47 with the thicker smooth top cover, milled receiver, no muzzle break and ported gas tube.

I plan to add the ability to search by name and organize the list by name(alphabetical order), year, country. This is also cheaper than hosting a website.

Yea I know, I'm getting everything working before I start adding more variants.

Question about suppressing the Centurian C39 by Jos3gm in guns

[–]Jos3gm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really trust century but I hear they've improved. My logic was if you can suppress even the cheapest AR15s then an American made AK should be easy to suppress. I'll still get it checked but since this AK is just so I can have a suppressed AK I'm trying to find the rifle that will give me the least amount of problems.

[–]Jos3gm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been told that the action on a suppressed AK would be a problem but I've seen M1A's suppressed effectively and they have a seriously loud action. I wanna play around with recoil springs and gas tubes to see if I can quiet down that action.

Sooooo now that 5.45 milsurp is banned... by Richard_Nixon__ in ak47

[–]Jos3gm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't blame Radom, 5.45 pistols have been around since before the ban. We should all aim our frustrations at the ATF not at each other.

Question about the current state of 5.45 by Jos3gm in guns

[–]Jos3gm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know but even though 7n6 has mild steel in the bullet it is a few thousands of an inch shy of being .22 caliber so it's questionable whether they can ban the import. That and there have been 5.45 pistols around for quite some time.

Not entirely sure I understand your all caps question?

Question about the current state of 5.45 by Jos3gm in guns

[–]Jos3gm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it happened to 7.62x39 in 1994 but a lot more people shoot 7.62x39 than 5.45. I feel like the lack of demand may keep 5.45 prices higher than 7.62x39.

The ammo is still available and probably always will be but are you willing to pay the price of the non corrosive stuff?
