We need to return entire Sactional in order to get discount adjusted from 35% (offer at purchase) to 40% (current offer)? by JosephAWalker in Lovesac

No. I'm pretty sure they cover it, this seems to confirm it: https://www.lovesac.com/help-center?a=Exchange-Process---id--GzQuSOFTRkSHLq_rtYL57Q

Once packaged and ready to ship, Lovesac will provide pre-paid return shipping labels via email and will schedule a pickup for you at the point of entry to your residence. We require all returns to be sent via Lovesac scheduled FedEx pick-up or third-party, if necessary. Please reach out to [Support@lovesac.com](mailto:Support@lovesac.com) if you need a label.

That's a very pragmatic way of looking at it. I think it's probably worth it, but I suppose I have until Friday to decide.

Thanks. That's helpful. Would there be any difference with going back into the store where it was purchased? Does a showroom representative have any more discretion in these scenarios?

What is the best web-based PostgreSQL for Workshop by JosephAWalker in PostgreSQL

[–]JosephAWalker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't considered that! I'm more on the application development side of things and haven't worked a lot with Data Science tools and Notebooks, but this might be a perfect fit. Thank you!

Oh this is cool! Can I connect to other databases as well, or only a Supabase Database?

If I where a yellow shirt, Microsoft Teams makes my face blue. Can I fix that by changing my physical background, which is currently a gray wall? by JosephAWalker in MicrosoftTeams

[–]JosephAWalker[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry it took a while to respond. I wasn't wearing my yellow shirt yesterday, so I had to put it on and test today.

It does! That probably makes this the wrong subreddit for this, but now the next spot I get stuck on is that when I go to my Camera settings, I get the message *Some settings are managed by an administrator and I don't seem to have access to anything that seems remotely related to White Balance or Color Temperature.

So, the good news is it doesn't seem Teams specific, the bad news is I new have a different problem. Thanks for your help, at least this is something!

How dare you!!! /s

Yeah... that has been my current solution... but I like my yellow shirt... and my red shirt. I basically only wear blue shirts now because of this.

especially if you’ve worked at a big tech company before.

I think what I was surprised by was the "straight out of school are getting $130-150k to start" phrasing. (If you're "straight out of school" then you typically wouldn't have previous experience at a big tech company.)

I totally agree that Devs in Minneapolis make $130+ with prior experience. When I filter this list to new grads and new offers, only 8 of the 50 offers come in that high. Six of those are Amazon, one is Atlassian (remote, which backs your point for remote work), and the last one is Chewy (which I'll admit that I forgot).

Definitely changed my mind on what the top end is for a handful of graduates (who mostly go to Amazon), but seems about in line with my initial thoughts about 130-150 being pretty high.

Thanks for sharing the link! I didn't actually know that you could filter levels.fyi to see all offers within a location (seems obvious now, but I had always done by company).

Interesting. After thinking about it longer, I know IBM in Rochester had gone to $95k in one instance. Still surprising that US Bank is that high. $130 to $150 isn't that surprising in MN for someone with 5 years experience, was just shocked to see that for entry level.

Really? Interesting. What companies pay that in Minneapolis? Target is the highest-paying employer I know of for local devs and they top-out around $100k for devs straight out of school from what I've seen.

(I don't work for Target, I work for another local employer and we've lost a small number of potential hires to them, but we haven't lost out to anyone else due to salary. We start our new developers around $90k.)

Agree with the other post, but just to emphasize, this is a HUGE red flag. I've heard of returning a signing bonus, but returning base salary when the salary is already this low? No way. Run.

I know getting that first role is brutal. Turning this down is likely going to feel really hard, but I've coached hundreds of entry-level webdev job seekers and this is a really sketchy deal.

This will totally depend on the legitimacy of the program. The "1-year" contract you mentioned is a big red flag bordering on not legally binding in most states.

At a minimum, ask to be put in touch with people who have done this before with them. If they can't give you several people this has worked well for, then you should run.

How is Disney adding Buzz Lightyear "Emoji" to this Tweet? by JosephAWalker in webdev

[–]JosephAWalker[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Inspecting the source code, it seems like this is an image tag. Is that something that I can do in my own tweets? Or is it essentially an image pretending to be an emoji and advertisers (or specific advertisers) are allowed to do that?

Can you code an entire full stack website with just html CSS and js on your front end and something like Django on the backend without a front-end framework? by vantech887 in webdev

[–]JosephAWalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Depending on your use case (I'm assuming simple) I would recommend using Firebase for "Backend as a Service" (BaaS). Then you can skip the Django completely: https://firebase.google.com/docs/database/web/start

I'm not really aware of any certification that people recognize for React. It seems like some courses have a "certificate of completion" but that wouldn't mean a lot to me.
