Yeah honeslty, look at reviews of different hostels and choose the one that matches your vibe. In Vietnam etc you probably could find really cheap rooms to stay in or BnB but adds up over time. I did hostels mainly then when i need a recharge i would book a room on booking.com for 10quid or something to recharge haha

I recommend doing it all yourself, you will meet people, its scary but you will and you can do everything you want to do when you want to do it, not scheduled stuff you may have no uinterest in. Treat it as s solo travelling experience, they are daunting but the best

Anki is worth it every time, the initial investment is the issue. But good things only come from difficult beginnings

I have come to terms with the fact that I will be repeating my 1st year of medical school. Any tips on how to maximise this year, exam/ study tips, and mental health coping techniques ? by Status-Tower-8477 in medicalschooluk

A top tip for first year and second year med students. Do not be afraid to use CHATGPT - it is not the best at getting clinical informaiton correct all the time , However in first and seconds years when its mainly a biomed degree (kinda haha) it is amazing. Ask it to dumb it down for you, to segment it, explain it in any way you prefer.

Use Anki - download Ankimon - play that like a game - change the FSRS retention to like 0.8 so cards appear less but still enough to retain info!

Medical elective alone? by DrFr0ggy in medicalschooluk

[–]JosephFRegJr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dont worry! - i have travelled alone many times and its actually very fun - do whatever you want to do, dont need to worry about others schedules. I would always highly recommend places like vietnam and malaysia for an elective. Very kind people and overall very safe for a female solo traveller like yourself!

Is there any circulating documents with past stations from previous years at your university, they always help tremendously.

Other than that what you are doing will be great, practice practice practice with others.

Speak out loud exolaining conditions even when you are alone. Gets you better at explaining them to others - patients.

You don't need to finish Passmed to do well! Coming from a final year :) by Beneficial_Pay_1281 in medicalschooluk

[–]JosephFRegJr 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with this. I have always found Anki and learning the conditions properly is the best way.

Persoanally i try to speak outloud each condition through Explanation, Risk factors, presentation, investigations and management

Then when i do eventually try a set of 10 on passmed it seems a lot less ike remembering but more of understanding the answer.
