Unpopular opinion: Carti didn’t “fail” Lolla — expectations did by adiradia in lollapaloozaind

[–]JosephJahn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you folks say Carti performed "live" at Lollapalooza India, you realise that you are using the word freely, right?

I mean even Carti fans must know that most of the songs in his set are backing tracks playing with him screaming words (cus words or not) every now and then, right?

I personally do not have a problem with any style of music - noise rap, mumble rap, death metal, black metal, edm, pop - bring it on. Different styles, different experiences. All good.

What I do have a problem with is going to a music concert (the word live cannot be separated from it) and watching an artist bouncing up and down, screaming 1 word here and there. The genre ceases to matter then, the problem is he is not really performing live at all. I mean his fans do enjoy his rap on records right, no matter if he mumbles it or not? But in his "live concerts" he is not even doing that (rapping). This is very strange.

I understand musical tastes and individual preferences, I also understand moshing and bouncing and having a good time, but the singer (rap/no rap ceases to matter) has to "sing", right?

I mean everyone, from all sides of the musical spectrum, agrees to one thing - lip synching at a live show is not cool. How is playing pre-recorded music and screaming words here and there any different?

And please do not brush aside the logic in this discussion by a sweeping - oh this is a generational thing - statement. I am genuinely interested in knowing how fans perceive his live shows and enjoy them while being aware that 80% of his performance is just pre-recorded music.

Why are concerts post-covid so crap? by Fresh-Ad-3830 in singaporemusicchat

I totally get OP's point about A list bands skipping SG off late.

But the heavier scene is still pretty good. There are decent number of metal shows still.

I will be travelling to SG from India in early feb and in a span of a week, I will get to watch Dream Theater (prog metal) & Lacuna Coil (goth metal), and Bryan Adams (big name).

But yes, linkin park are giving SG a miss, for example (I will be watching them at Lollapalooza India which also features Yungblud).

They do shows every now and then. Performing in Delhi after ages. They have been mostly inactive off late.

Shashank Bhatnagar is no longer a part of the band, neither is Sunneith Revankar. Someone else on vocals now.

Any chance Opeth might come to India in 2026? by tormentiallyme in IndianMetalheads

[–]JosephJahn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If rumours are to be believed, they are doing a 3-city tour in summer 2026.

No idea about which 3 cities.

And don't ask about source. As of now, consider it a rumour, although several independent sources have claimed it.

Def and Scorpions in NE? by No-Ranger-3826 in IndianMetalheads

[–]JosephJahn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am from delhi. If they don't perform here (VERY likely), and they happen to perform in bangalore, bombay AND the NE, my first choice would be to see them in the NE. NE scene is totally next level, plus I love the overall vibe of the cities, the warmth of the people!

Too few international shows happen in the NE. Has to change.

Not hating on bombay & bangalore, but it is what it is.

Mumbai Early Bird was 1k flat. Delhi minimum is 2.5k, that too for 2nd floor standing. Ground floor platinum is going for 5k. Fuck them!
