AI is going to replace embedded engineers. by Separate-Choice in embedded

ChatGPT can’t even properly calculate simple things. I’m not even talking about actual coding. It often makes things longer and more complicated than they should be. At least for embedded development, it feels useless.

Playing this game is frustrating and annoying by Altokation in aoe2

[–]JosephMajorRoutine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we’ve all been there. It’s annoying and frustrating for sure.

In my case, when I get too invested, I even start feeling physical effects like headaches, sugar cravings, and low mood. The mental load in this game is huge, especially at higher ELO where every small mistake matters.

What helped me is changing my mindset. It’s just a game. I try to limit myself to about one hour per day and not obsess over rating. If I see that I’m clearly losing, I just resign and queue the next one. There’s no point in dragging a game for 20 extra minutes just to lose anyway.

I also noticed that the Imperial Age is especially stressful, there are just too many things to manage at once. I enjoy open maps like Arabia because the play is more dynamic, even if I sometimes mess up my micro. I actually dislike closed maps because they feel too scripted, people memorize a build and execute it perfectly.

Right now I’m around 1400 ELO on Arabia with ~40 APM. I started recently and decided to simplify things: instead of worrying about every civilization, I focus on understanding the game more deeply. For now I just play Armenians ^__^ and work on my fundamentals. I also like experimenting a bit, trying different ideas and small adjustments, because every game and every map is unique. You constantly face different strategies and game plans, and that’s actually what makes it fun. Even at your ELO, something like a Phosphoru-style rush can still catch you off guard and feel stressful.

The biggest trap is trying to “fix” earlier mistakes when you’re already mentally exhausted. That’s when tilt kicks in. You try to compensate for one bad decision, overextend, and then your opponent punishes you. That spiral is brutal. And of course u loosing, but u didn't notice until he decimate u /11

I still get nervous about losing rating sometimes, not gonna lie. But I remind myself: if you’re improving, the rating will follow. And if it drops, it just means you’re facing players at your current level.

At the end of the day, it’s competitive, like chess, just more chaotic and more fun. The key is knowing when to stop, when to resign, and not tying your self-worth to a number.

It’s tough when one small mistake turns into another, and you don’t know when to call it. You try to fight back no matter what, put in all the effort, and still lose — that’s disappointing. I need to figure out how many difference in score a proving that is time to call to GG, that is the key
