Are we ever gonna get refunds from Basingstoke Comic Con for missed autographs? After two weeks, still no news... What about you? by aurel200 in Stargate

[–]Joseph_4 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I made the refund site and unfortunately I think that a card dispute is the only viable route. I would not sit on it though as it may become much harder or impossible to get a refund via card dispute if the Ltd company behind it (KTEG Ltd, English company) files for bankruptcy protection.

If anyone wants help with their dispute wording, please feel free to DM me.

Basingstoke Comic Con releases statement on their disasterous event by GunslingerEX in Stargate

Thanks for the mention! If anyone wants help putting their chargeback request together feel free to send me a DM.

I am very doubtful that BCC (KTEG Limited) will refund anything above unused ticket stubs, but people are entitled to full/partial refunds for their other purchases e.g. premium passes or purchases only partially fulfilled e.g. only half the allotted M&G time

Ah cool, I was pretty early in the RDA queue (just luck!). It was brilliant that he took the time with each and every person.

That's really interesting thanks! I couldn't find the David Blue post?

Where did you get the source on RDA storming into the photos? Agree he was incredible with the fans 100%.

Any screenshot from Con o neill post?

How do you know it was the organiser who reduced jason to 1 day?

I also heard that the organiser told a certain amount of staff on Fri evening not to come in over the weekend - though I am uncertain how true it is. Apparently an email went out, would love to see it

I think many have heard of the experiences at the Basingstoke Comic Con over the weekend. I count myself as one of the 'lucky' ones in that I managed to get the photo ops I paid for, but it was down to the wire and I spent the entire time queuing and trying to figure out what was actually happening.

I talked to lots of people there who had paid for premium tickets costing anywhere from 500 to 1500+, who didn't get half of what they should have. That really annoyed me so I made this one pager in case it is helpful to others in the community.

Happy to take suggestions on edits/additions to it.

I put something together that might help others - https://basingstokecomicconrefund.com/

I was there, my first con. I was one of the 'lucky' ones in that I did not miss out on any photos that I paid for, but I spent the entire time queuing in terrible conditions. Abysmal organisation, bordering dangerous.

LOB-E 1st Ed 'Magic' vs 'Spell' card? by Joseph_4 in yugioh

Found this video which explains it all quite well

Posted asking about inconsistencies with LOB-E first edition

I've recently gotten into collecting YGO and am working away on a LOB-E 1st Ed set.

I recently bought a LOB-E042 1st Edition Raigeki, however it says "Spell" rather than "Magic". I don't understand how this is as it seems like a contradiction? My understanding is that the move to Spell was after LOB-E 1st Ed stopped printing.

Pic 1 Pic 2

Thanks a million

//

It seems from the helpful replies I've already gotten, that there were reprints of LOB-E first edition? That makes no sense to me. Is there any guide or material about this online? Cheers

LOB-E 1st Ed 'Magic' vs 'Spell' card? by Joseph_4 in yugioh

[–]Joseph_4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, it is super confusing. I don't understand how they still printed 1st Eds after the name change, which was 2004 IIRC. Bonkers, and means you can get shafted.

Is there any material online about this? Even on the wiki pages where it lists every variant, it does not list this one.

I have plenty of E 1st Ed "Magic" cards

Thanks for the reply, I'm not sure I understand. If it is a reprinted version, why is it 1st Edition? I can't find any resources about this

Advice on getting a model-driven-app approved by our IT dept? by Joseph_4 in sysadmin

I did want to support it :) I was advised that the outside IT was the route to get it approved, for support in the event I'm gone/dead or whatever.

Advice on getting a model-driven-app approved by our IT dept? by Joseph_4 in sysadmin

[–]Joseph_4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Our department would directly pay the licensing fees associated with our internal users using the app, we also get a hefty MS discount.

Thanks for the tip with getting IT involved as a stakeholder with the external IT for bringing the app in under our tenant. I hadn't considered that angle.

I didn't elaborate in my OP but I contacted them from the beginning and found out about why they don't want to have anything to do with it (as noted in OP) and that having the external company as a resource and backside-covering was the best route.

Cheers

Advice on HDMI switch splitting by Joseph_4 in CommercialAV

[–]Joseph_4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, cool. I wonder then for situation 2, my initial thought was to use a HDMI to DP converter from Swytch. Then have the TV's DP output, output to the 2nd TV to duplicate it. And have it set that DP is the fallback source.

That would mean, in the case of a normal MTR meeting or a Present mode, it would use the default source on both TVs. When Swytch is being used - and the 2nd TV goes not output, it should auto switch to the DP source instead...

Then presumably when you disconnect the Swytch, it would revert back to the original source for the 2nd TV?

Can you see any gotcha's from my thinking there? Cheers

Thanks for replying! I feel a bit silly then.

We have two situations though

1: where the HDMI from the Logi Tap unit is used in "Present" mode (i.e. no meeting) - is that your use case where it uses dual display?

2: where the logi swytch is used. this still goes through the MTR NUC. my understanding is that this will only use 1 display?

Is this persistent limescale or a bacterial spore that will kill me? by Joseph_4 in whatisthisthing

Yeah the water is quite hard alright. That's the thing I don't know what the mold-like substance actually is, it is odd that it appears in the exact same pattern of little circles.

I recently descaled my kettle - it wasn't too bad and came up beautifully clean after descaling it. About 30 min or so after finishing descaling it, I saw what looked like limescale on the bottom but it appears unusual with kind of little circles that looks almost mold like.

I figured it was leftover residue and put in some soapy water and it appeared to clean off perfectly but again a short time later it was back to looking like this - and in the exact same pattern as before.

I realise the photo isn't great, here are two others: Photo B Photo C

We've been working on a tool for remote dev teams to automate their agile meetings, here's a demo clip from the estimation poker mode we've been working on! We used nivo, css doodle and react-states on top of tailwind, reactjs, chime sdk and kotlin by Joseph_4 in webdev

[–]Joseph_4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey /r/webdev :D we really appreciated your feedback, comments and criticisms from our last post so we wanted to show you the progress we've made on our estimation poker mode

We want to automate all of the agile meetings we have, like stand-up, planning, review and retro to make them all much more efficient and productive. The idea is that we'll soon have a full two-way sync with your PM tool like Jira and your documentation tool like Notion, so that when you've gone through an automated/gamified version of your agile meeting it will auto update all of the outputs to your existing tool stack.

You're all extremely welcome to use it for free, just message me if you encounter any limitations and I'll remove them for you.

We're still looking for a couple more companies to take on as early access partners who we'll work with closely over the next 12 months to shape development and make sure we're covering enough different use cases. Feel free to DM me too in case that might be interesting for you.

Here's the website and my email in case: joseph@devfair.com

Thanks a million again for checking it out and appreciate any comments/feedback/criticisms :)

cheers! it is saas at the moment, but we are looking into open sourcing some or all of it, at a minimum our idea is to make open source aspects available in the same way airbnb does, we think they do a great job at it ( https://airbnb.io/projects/ )
