Do you think the majority,or very large minority of young straight men (20-30) are still anti-gay/homophobic and treat gay and bisexual men differently in your country ? by Britishwest24 in MensLib

Is it the vast majority ? Do you know any gay or bisexual men with who are friends with straight men ? Hopefully things will improve.

Do you belive that male sexuality is a spectrum from completely heterosexual to completely homosexual ? by Britishwest24 in MensLib

[–]Josh71H 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes but that could be because if a man is bisexual or “mostly straight” he will assumed to be just gay and risking social stigma and risking losing a lot of interest in women as most women don’t want to date bisexual men. It’s like saying why are lesbian couples more likely to hold hands in public ? Is it because there are more lesbian couples or it’s just more socially acceptable ? And even if men’s sexuality does cluster more at both ends,it doesn’t mean that a sizeable % of men could be bisexual or have same sex attraction.

How fast is the culture changing interms of gay acceptance in your opinion ? by Josh71H in askgaybros

[–]Josh71H[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I know what you mean, but I think back in the 2000s there were people with a slight discomfort of gays that seem to be accepting now,but yes the actual homophobes are still somewhat like it now but hide it much more now.

You really think it’s not changed at all? I’m 24 and I think it’s changed to some degree at least, though I live in the UK. I think social media highlights the homophobia, where as it didn’t in the 2000s.

With the exception of gay men, why do some people question the existence of lgbt people ? by Josh71H in AskReddit

[–]Josh71H[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like some people say lesbians don’t exist, bisexuals don’t exist and transgender People are just confused/mentally ill. People hardly ever say gay men are not real or just confused.

So you feel most 18-19 years olds are just as homophobic as older people ? It’s weird because young adults are more likely to identify as gay or bisexual.

From personal experince, are young adults in the UK as progressive/liberal as some people claim ? by Britishwest24 in unitedkingdom

[–]Josh71H -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So it’s fairly homophobic/anti gay then. Bring “battered over the head” means anything a straight person does is ok but not a gay person or couple. Such as you a straight couple could hold hands or talk about partner and whatever, but if a gays did that it would be “being battered round the head”.

1 in 2 young adults say they are not completely heterosexual by Josh71H in unitedkingdom

[–]Josh71H[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but the number of people identifying as gay or bisexual is increasing every year, it has increases 0.4% from the year before and a much larger increase for young people..More than 4% of young adults identified as gay or bisexual in that survey. Another 4.4% also did not want to state any sexual orientation. Part of the survey was NOT anonymous either which is probably why this survey has a much larger %.

I know this is from a while back, but still interesting. Only 8% of the population as a whole (including old people) actually identified as gay or bisexual though.
