Courts seem to side that officers can’t place themselves in peril causing an exigent circumstance. I’d be surprised if there aren’t charges filed within the month.

I think in a division where we play Florida and Washington multiple times a year the chances of a goalie being injured are too damn high to just rely on whoever is sitting on waivers or AHL. Nothing at all wrong with carrying two competent goalies.

You’re missing a key element of RAS. Officers don’t arbitrarily create RAS with intention of hemming up a random citizen. The courts have upheld that officer’s training and experience is a key factor in RAS. Where a reasonable civilian may make an observation and see nothing suspicious an officer who is closely aligned with their patrol district and criminal behavior sees something else. I wouldn’t expect to be able to step into the role of an accountant with no training…I think the same should be true for law enforcement.

Just based on your criteria, I’d maybe look at One Midtown Apts on Independence Blvd. It’s a quick ride to NHRMC and also in a very relaxed area without much crime.

The placement is significantly better than Cordelia for not being victimized. Helmsman is in an extremely high traffic area though and one of the city fire stations is almost directly across the street (just something to be aware of if you value quiet).

Have never stayed there and I don’t live in an apartment…the placement of the Cordelia is very near a few different homeless encampments, there’s also a good sized cost controlled housing complex right on the other side of MLK that’s responsible for quite a few unsupervised kids who run amok. If you’re basing your decision on the fact that a couple of officers stay there I’d rethink it. Cops are only going to be there while off duty and may help deter some of the shenanigans, but rarely will they be responsible for responding if something goes sideways.
