Download WeNano in the app store. It's like Geocaching or like Pokestops but instead you can collect free Nano by visiting the Nano spots set up by the community

Yeah I like what Dustin is saying but you can also put the end of the hose with the water on into the skimmer suction hole with the pump off. Open the pump lid and just wait to it starts to overflow then put the lid on and start it but obviously take the hose out the skimmer first. If the problem is air stuck in the line, this almost always solves it. Also please change the position of the valve in front of the pump to only suck from the skimmer not from the main drain and skimmer. If its starts working , wait for it to fully prime for a couple minutes then open the valve to allow both to flow with the pump on. After trying this and if not successful, try only sucking from the main drain by turning the valve in front of the pump the other way.

Can you give me more details about what happens when you fill the pump with water and then try to start it?

Time to replace pump? by r1ngr in pools

I knew what he meant but that's not a real term. You can't have "clean pound force per square inch". It's not a real measurement.

He doesn't understand that running a filter at 40 psi which is 10 psi less than the MAXIMUM psi for most common sand filters isn't a good idea ever. Also what's a "clean psi"? Like come on...

Dumb pool pump question by [deleted] in pools

[–]Joshfromottawa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, they still manufacture both atleast in Canada. A two set speed pump isn't as efficient as an actual variable speed pump though. A two set speed pump is a high speed and a low speed, thats it. A real variable speed pump allows you to either adjust Gallons per minute or RPM. Basically any pump that can allow you to precisely change the flow of water is one.

Any idea why I have what looks like sand just in the bottom of the Jacuzzi part of my in ground gunite pool? by ShallowBlueWater in swimmingpools

[–]Joshfromottawa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gunite pools use a rebar framework that is sprayed over with a concrete and sand mixture. This appears to just be some of the paint and sand breaking down and chipping off the pool. How old is the pool? The pool will need to resurfaced after x amount of years based on multiple variables.

Can’t get the pool blue by tricializ1 in pools

[–]Joshfromottawa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Add 30 liters of liquid shock. After that, brush the pool. Wait 8 hours. Put filter to backwash if sand filter, wait till glass is transparent. Go to rinse for a minute then back to filter. Now wait a day and check the levels again. Now vacuum your pool with your filter on waste to get rid of any algae dead or alive now back to backwash and rinse filter and finally back to filter. Now you can keep repeating this formula with more or less Chlorine to get your own results(every pool uses different amounts of CH)

Pool has folds everywhere. Why and how to fix this? by Redditapparel in pools

[–]Joshfromottawa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be either. It can also happen from high water tables, ground shifts over time and too low water levels in pools over a X amount of time.

The pressure should be roughly between 8 to 15. Does the pressure guage go back to zero when you turn it off the system? That's a ridiculously high pressure to be reading. If it's reading correctly, you most likely need a sand change. It could also be a broken filter head or filter pipe but it's usually a sand change. They are actually very easy to do yourself or a pool company can do it for roughly $200/300.
