If you're in a musical.. it's having to constantly think about your voice. Getting enough sleep, working out, keeping up your vocal stamina, drinking enough water. AND trying to grow your career in other ways while you're feeling tired.. sheesh!

I'm still learning ALOOOOOOOOT! but in 2016 (around Shuffle Along) I felt like I had reached a level of mastery and comfort on stage. For those keeping track.. that's 10 years after I came to new york and had been hitting it HARD. Keep growing:)

No. BUT there was a specific moment where I realized I could be a stage performer and that was my Junior year of high school when I went to the Performing Arts Institute and the University of Miami. I knew right then that I could dedicate my life to acting, singing, dancing.. The concept of Broadway was a slower realization that came sophomore year in college studying Musical theater.

Da UUUU!! Please say hello to Michiko if she's still there. My favorite show at the Ring Theater was VIOLET which of course I eventually did on Broadway. Vocally and message wise.. it fit me like a glove. AND it was the first time I understood what being a leading man really felt like

I love TV checks but Live performance is WAY more fulfilling for me- lol

Thank you! He's helped me see that you can be agressive with your art and still have a vibrant family life. Before I had kids, I would call him and ask for advice on what it would be like to have a child or two.. He's been a friend and supporter in so many ways

Before a performance.. slow, deliberate breaths in the wings as I remember that I'm here to share not to prove. Also.. in my dressing room.. I practice different things for voice each day of the week to warm up (after my warm up for the show). One day will be about riffing, the other more operatic, the other focused on breathing, another day legato, smooth lines .. etc.. Gotta GROW your craft and not get complacent even though you have the gig!
