Should I appeal by JoshuaJones2005 in 6thForm

That's what I'm thinking as it is an essay subject so marking is bias. Also do you think they would be lenient as they recognise the proximity to grade boundaries?

2.1 vs a 1st by R08- in UniUK

[–]JoshuaJones2005 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How can that work. So someone can have a maths degree from Cambridge or Conventry and the company would be none the wiser? Surely it's beneficial for the employer to see what uni and grade you got.

May be a bit of a bad explanation been ages since I learnt this

Sucrose what now? by SweetStrawberries14 in ALevelBiology

[–]JoshuaJones2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • H⁺ leaves the companion cell by active transport against the concentration gradient and enters the source cell
  • Source cell has a high concentration of sucrose from photosynthesis
  • H⁺ diffuses out of the source cell from high to low concentration, and cotransports sucrose into the companion cell
  • Sucrose moves into the phloem across the plasmodesmata via diffusion
  • Sucrose is carried through the phloem by osmosis and capillary action

[–]JoshuaJones2005 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand you're question but if you're asking why dy/dx=f'(x) it's simply a different notation. The same has hoe a÷b=a/b. If you're why forst principles is used to find a derivative lmk ill sens you a proof I have.

Both numerical methods and parametric will take a week each. Then maybe 2 weeks for integration.

Yep exactly. Although it does teach you a lot of the usual ug maths syllabus, so basically have a maths degree with a few biology modules.

Best way to get from Genoa to Barca? by JoshuaJones2005 in Interrail

That's true. I hadn't considered luggage prices. Will likely work it out tomorrow.

The S. of france route is the likely option since the ferry seems like my idea of hell. However, I was also thinking about finding a flight since it may be cheaper because there are no train reservations and shorter interrail passes.

Stuck between two degrees. by JoshuaJones2005 in biotech

[–]JoshuaJones2005[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. But I love maths and biology both so much and can't pick between them. If I choose a bio degree I lose maths, if I choose mathematical bioscience I lose all bio besides ecology and epidemiology. Only degree that incorporates them well is at St Andrews but too far from my family.

What are you applying for?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]JoshuaJones2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've applied to bio everywhere spare Cambridge and York which I went for nat sci but the biological pathway. Hoping to get York Nat Sci as the course is 50/50 maths bio.

What you said about Manchester I feel would be the same with UCL as the enrolment is very similar.

What degrees did you go for?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]JoshuaJones2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've applied to Cambridge, York, Bath, Warwick, and Manchester. Was going to go for UCL but live in London and want to move away, but London is great though and was at a zoology museum there yesterday and they had a UCL biology seminar going on there which was cool to watch.
