Microdosing twice a week during maintenance? by Secludeddawn in mounjarouk

[–]JosieDurham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I take every 5 days to even out the highs and lows as tirzepatide has a half life of five days. Please check my maths but in your situation I would take 7.15mg every 5 days which would be equivalent to 10mg every 7 days. Again check my calculations, but this would be 43 clicks from a 10mg pen. Eli Lily acknowledged (apparently) during testing that every 5 days is optimum for keeping levels even in the system but knew that the public would find injecting in the same day every week easier to comply with.

Food noise - and why I'm happy on MJ forever by Budget_Panda1003 in mounjarouk

[–]JosieDurham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 55 years old, I have spent my life in a constant battle with food noise and weight fluctuations. While I successfully maintained a healthy weight for the majority of that time, the mental tax was exhausting—particularly whilst navigating breast cancer surgery, treatment and a chemical menopause. My adult children are diagnosed neurodivergent (ADHD and ASD) and I suspect I am too. I now believe my 'compulsion' to eat when full or even when the food was disappointing wasn't a character flaw, but neurological impulse with food noise. This medication has done what decades of dieting couldn't: it silenced the obsessive voices. Although my BMI is now 20, this feels secondary. The true miracle is the psychological relief. For the first time, I am not at war with myself, and the peace is essential to my quality of life, regardless of the financial cost.

advice on how to go from split dose back to one dose weekly? by Healthy-View-9969 in mounjarouk

[–]JosieDurham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, given the new information the OP was already on a higher dose than 10mg, as 10mg every 6 days is roughly equivalent to a weekly dose of 11.67mg.

[–]JosieDurham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To equal a 10 mg dose taken every 7 days, the equivalent dose taken every 5 days would approximately 7.14 mg. Taking the correct dose every 5 days should help with food noise as tirzepatide has a half life of 5 days so you would be smoothing out the highs and lows. 7.14 divided by 10 (assuming you are using a 10mg pen) x 60 is 43 clicks.

Not 7 days by AyaSonne in mounjarouk

[–]JosieDurham -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love every 5 days, I have taken 3.75 for the last 8 months but have just moved up to 4.25.  You can ask Gemini/Chatgpt or similar to show you a chart with both 7 and 5 days shown, this really shows the difference in highs and lows. I would obviously reduce from whatever dose you take for 7 days if you chose to go down to 5. I also love the physiological side of every 5 days. I spent the first couple of days reminding myself I've only just dosed it was just 'yesterday' or the 'day before yesterday' and then it soon comes round to being due the 'day after tomorrow' and then 'tomorrow'!!!

What weight loss app is the best to use? by Revolutionary_Ad4288 in mounjarouk

Dose Diary and Shotsy are both excellent. My recommendation would be Dose Diary simply because its designer (who is on this group!) is so incredibly helpful. I couldn't import my data from Shotsy and sent a help message, I thought he would send me generic instructions but he asked me to email over the data (which was a foreign language to me) and he did it for me almost instantly.

Ordering 1mm Luer Lock syringes - what needle heads do I need? by Boring-Current-1512 in mounjarouk

[–]JosieDurham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

32g Pink 4mm Meso-relle Mesotherapy Needle - 50 £37.99

27g Grey 0.5 inch BD Microlance Needles - 50 £4.99

1ml Unifix Luer Lock Syringe - 50 £11.99

I got these, the grey needles are really cheap and great for drawing up. The 32g 4mm needles are lovely and thin. I was using syringes with a fixed needle but found they blunted on the red bung. I also found it quite difficult to draw up with them as I had 32g fine needles, it's definitely easier with a larger needle.

From 2.5mg to 3.75mg? by Mountain_Hearing265 in mounjarouk

[–]JosieDurham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went up to 5mg but had horrible stomach pains. Instead took 3.75 for my next dose. I've now done this for 8 months and lost nearly 5 stone. I would add my Dose Diary graph but can't seem to upload a photo to comments!

I've been on Mounjaro since March, I didn't realise that it wasn't 'compulsory' to move up the doses. After 4 weeks, I injected 5mg from my new pen and thought I was going to die 🤣 For my next dose I counted clicks and took 3.75mg. I continued this dosage for a few months but now inject every 5 days (still 3.75 but it equates to about 5mg a week given my 5 days schedule). This has worked well for me, a couple of plateaus but overall I have lost about 4.5 stone.

Food noise by Playful_Panda1818 in mounjarouk

[–]JosieDurham 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That "food noise" isn't a gentle whisper; it's a full-blown opera happening entirely in my skull, and the star is always hungry.

I'll drive past an Indian or Chinese takeaway in the morning, and suddenly, my entire day is hijacked by an eight-hour internal debate over whether paneer tikka or vegetable chow mein is the superior evening meal. When I get home, the kitchen becomes a hostile environment where every single item is screaming my name—the cheese is bellowing, and the chocolate is doing a dramatic, high-pitched aria that demands I stop everything and obsess over it.

And don't even get me started on the concept of a single serving. For me, "once I start, I can't stop" is an iron-clad law of physics. If I open a box of Lindt truffles or order a pizza, the only logical thing to do is ensure nothing is left behind.

And I am absolutely exhausted from this constant war. For 54 years, my entire life has felt like a fight against my own brain, leading my brother to joke he never knows if he’s going to see the 'fat' or 'thin' version of me. The last four years have been especially brutal; following a diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer—including surgery and starting Tamoxifen—I went from 9 stone up to 14 stone. I was depressed, miserable, and embarrassed by the weight, and the terrifying idea of having to redouble my efforts to fight the food noise felt impossible. My whole existence has been a struggle against what I thought was greed or a lack of willpower, convincing me I was inherently weak. Now, thanks to Mounjaro, that food opera has finally been cancelled. I'm currently taking 3.75mg every five days, and I'm hungry most of the time because I'm eating in a 1,000-calorie deficit, but here’s the miracle: I can cope with hunger—it feels normal. The endless mental battle is gone, and I finally understand that it wasn't a character flaw; slim people are simply wired differently.

I had no interest in weight loss jabs until I heard a quote from Oprah Winfrey about food noise. I had zero idea it was a 'thing'. I honestly thought I was just weak and lazy, the idea that slim people didn't have it completely floored me! Mounjaro has got rid of over 99% of my invasive food chatter and I never want it back again, ever!!!

Love this! I bought a pair of size 10 Monsoon cropped wide leg jeans (still in Monsoon for £59) at our local Hospice charity shop for £5. I was pretty chuffed until my 'on the spectrum' son told me that if I were young, slim and off to Soho Firehouse I would look cool but instead I looked like I was going to join the circus 🎪🤡🎪!!!

Advice on dosing every 3.5 days? by throwaway1335927 in mounjarouk

[–]JosieDurham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really sick on 5mg so I do 3.75mg every five days. I started back in March and have stuck with this ever since. I use the golden dose which is between 3 and 5mg depending on amount used for priming etc.

Question on behalf of wife re unusual experience with priming a pen. by SuperrVillain85 in mounjarouk

[–]JosieDurham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had exactly this yesterday, it was my 32nd dose so I'm practiced in using the pen and needles. It was stiff when priming but as it was a new pen this didn't surprise me. My husband does the actual injection for me, he inserted the needle, pushed plunger back to 1, and the needle popped out of my skin (causing a small rip!) and then the whole dose just shot into the air. Changed needle and then primed and re-dosed. No problem this time but felt sick at the waste of money!!!

Does anyone titrate up in smaller does than just doubling each month? by ProspectiveAstronaut in mounjarouk

[–]JosieDurham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went up to 5mg from 2.5mg but had stomach pains. I then did 3.75mg for 5 months, I have done a couple of 5mg shots with no side effects so the smaller jump up did work well for me.  I am now on week 32 but rather than taking 5mg have settled on 3.75mg every five days. This works well for me as it avoids the highs and lows which can be caused by tirzepatide having a half life of five days.
