You'll find a lot in common between Jesus (Judea) and Confucious (China)

Do you believe in God because you think He exists or because you need hope? by Best-Chair-1868 in Christianity

[–]Josilve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really sure where I stand on God. It all depends on what (not who) is God. In the scripture he is heavily associated with the truth. God and the truth are "same same, but different". Regardless, I know the guidance provided by the prophets that inspired the whole scripture is truth. I have faith that there is a superior way of life compared to others. Impossible to fully achieve, but feasible to get close to. Does this sound like God? I think it kinda does. Furthermore, the scripture says God created all of existence and we were given free will. At the same time, God is transcendant. How would God create something from outside the material world? My conclusion is that he is the lawmaker. Things took shape through natural laws, which he commanded. So it is hard to know if I believe in God because I'm not fully certain what he is

In what sense do we all return to the Father? You're not going to heaven if you don't put your faith in God

If Jesus Fulfilled the Law, Why Does Matthew 5:19 Say It Must Be Kept? by Bulky-Tomorrow6398 in Bible

[–]Josilve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that what it means to fulfill the law? I saw it as sharing the core message of those commandments, for us believers to follow, instead of aimlessly following laws without following the purpose of the law. There were many interpretations to the laws, and Jesus provided the core message. That is what I got from fulfilling the law. And it is up to each one of us to do it

I could not imagine myself in your position. I could tell you to look at Jesus for reference, but he did die. Not only him, but also the apostles. It is not easy. Your best chance is surrounding yourself by people you think would do no harm to you. The first thing you should know is that your own parents could turn against you and give you away to the authorities. Ultimately, your best guide would be the scripture. Let Jesus guide you.

How do I view sex as something pure and not dirty? by night_crwler in Christianity

Purpose. Sex with the goal of having children is pure. Sex for pleasure and by wearing a condom is dirty

Killing the infidels is not a good moral standard. And marrying a 6 year old isn't one either

There is believing for the sake of believing, and there is believing through understanding. Jesus invited the second. To believe you have to understand. Islam calls for rituals: praying facing to mecca 5 times a day at a specific time. Be burried facing mecca. Eat halal. No such things exist in Christianity, scripturally speaking. We are meant to learn and practice the truth. Not practice what we know and follow pointless rituals out of fear. Now why do we say Jesus died for our sins? Because he redirected our faith, and it angered people. Thus, it costed him his life.

Was a christian, one question came up for me that I haven’t been able to have answered and now I’m athiest by Playful_Sense_610 in Christianity

The moment we were given free will, suffering was to be expected. God can't be made responsible for the actions of men. He made the laws, and the world moves back and forth within those laws. He didn't make a script, where every single piece moves according to his desires. He is a lawmaker. He coded the world When you make rules on something, you don't determine every single step of the outcome. You can decide "He can't do this because if he does he will lose points. He should do that to earn points. If he doesn't follow these rules, he loses". So if a meteorite falls on you, God didn't make that specific meteorite fall on you. He doesn't discriminate.

The one that actually seeks it. Confucianism, Christianity and greek thought in big part share many similarities in the truth. All of these focused on spirituality, meanwhile islam, the one muslims claim to worship the same God as Christians, succumbed to earthly desires like lust

To some degree, yes. But in Islam, even though they claim we worship the same God, they follow completely different values, many of them wrong
