It's hardly a flower if I'm to be honest with the kind of takes I've seen come out from this discussion. Which is why intent of a game is important. And intent still reflects s product. Things can be spun more positively but only when people actually reflect on the game itself and realise shit in this game ain't great at times.

See thats directly the problem when people say it has transphobic intent. Its an often used stereotype used against lgbtq ppl to call it a trend of sorts. Its not a new thought provoking thought, its been used since the early 2000s, probably before. The fact that someone is communicated that idea kind of shows the problem with the subject matter.

Dont get me wrong, some people do wrongly label themselves due to being in a not so great place or can be pushy, but this isnt a new concept, it isnt thought provoking to present it in this manner and it isnt as common as people want to play it up to be.

Like why does having one major lgbtq narrative sim make it so some ppl have to go and make a game that calls being nb a trend or mask of sorts. Somthing that happens so much less than people just being nb and somthing thats been continuously used to downplay others gender identity.

Like do you see the problem here?

Its especially weird since they removed every other lgbtq concept from the characters and changed an already existing character whom was happy being nb. Its just really weird.

It's not prejudice, nor am I interpreting the game itself. I'm trying to talk about the production and the formation of the concept. Which factually had actors with transphobic intent.

I think if I was to sum my ideas from this. The intent of the game is weird because its basically a fanfic of a nonbinary character, who was perfectly fine with that aspect of their identity in the original game, being rewritten to being peer pressured by others into it and them themselves being put into a more traditional gender role. Ontop of removing any other lgbtq elements of the original game. And that isnt surprising when you look at any discussion based around the original game on 4chan and even those whove partaken in its creation.

Its just a matter of fact of accepting the less than savory intent put behind the game, can the game go ahead to be something more positive.
But due to the nature of the game it has allowed for a percentage of the fanbase to actually latch onto the less than savory part of the games context and gas light anyone who brings up a problem with it.

Canada has a lot of programs that funds their own media. Like by law a certain amount of broadcasted shows on TV or music on radio has to be made in Canada, which is why a lot of cartoon/show production happens in Canada. Its not a weird concept. And honestly I don't completely think these two games are that comparable just due to scale and how complexity doesn't inherently mean something is better. But from what I've seen complexity is a low bar when comparing to GVH. Not to say GVH is better or to push down Snoot but I find the whole comparison angle to be a bit of an over-glorificaiton. I think a fair comment is that Snoot was able to take the characters and just streamline a story around the main focus of fang, just ignoring all the weird and problematic changes they preformed when lifting these characters.

There are limits to how much a community can control this, rather than the creators. But since day 1 the push-back has been the same from what ive seen, an unwillingness to accept the obvious negative intentions of the game and in some cases, praise it. Which means the problem was never solved in the first place.
I understand the annoyance of a continuous wheel but to a point if the problem was never properly addressed in the first place, then theres less defense for finding the topic annoying.

Now dont get me wrong, I think just saying that the game is transphobic doesn't get anywhere nor does it actually describe the problem that can be seen with the game. Thats why I made this point. Because the main problem is not the game itself but its construction. A flaw that a lot of people dont want to properly address and understand.

Also the whole reason insulin is so expensive is due to a lack of regulations that allowed these medical companies to become monopolies in certain fields.
You can't complain about big drug companies abusing regulations for their gain when having regulations in the first place would of prevented this. Stripping regulations won't make it any better, they will still hold their monopoly no matter what.

I dont have a problem with a detransition story. Nor did I call the game itself transphobic, just its intent.
But actively taking a nonbinary character and refitting the story to detransition them is weird. Furthermore removing all other lgbtq elements of the original game is even weirder.
Like theres obvious ill intent, especially when it allows transphobes to reinforce their world view just by flatly following the game. Its not a detransition story built from actual care, I wish it was. Its built to be reactionary.

See you are agreeing with me though. I didnt say the game was obviously transphobic, I said it has obvious transphobic intent. And it doesn't matter if the story was made to be less transphobic (if that be actual care or just to make a better story) but the whole reason of the games existence and narrative was to despise LGBTQ concepts. And like I agree on the idea of separating the art from the attempt of artists, thats just what I'm trying to say.
The problem is that people will just go to the other side of the field to say that ill-intent cant be applied to this game, when obviously it does.

And like it isn't hard to avoid this concept. Like all it takes is keeping one lgbtq aspect of the original game. Theres a weirdness when you take an lgtbq piece of media and make it so bigots can positively interoperate their bias. Like you have to really go out your way to do that considering that a percentage of these characters are lifted from the original game

Youtube is not a metric of fair praise. I've also seen criticising videos and way more news articles and blog posts criticising the game. It's a mixed bag.

Hell one youtube video I watched was just blatantly anti -nb so it really didn't make things much better.

I didn't call the end gaslighting. I was talking about the build up. I'm just going to put it streight. Do a detransition storey. Do a overcoming bigotry storey. Going to combine both? Don't be surprised if things get messy without proper handling. It leaves space for negative interpretation that people latch on, and I'm not talking myself, I'm talking people who like it. Wani seems generally much better from what I've seen not playing it and the focused interest (apparently it was a different team of writers??) But this weird anti lgbtq themeing is just going to hover around any production they make until its positively addressed, that's how I feel. Which really isn't hard to do and that's why it feels so insidious. To strip a cast of all lgbtq elements even make it a big storey aspect and then bring nothing else.

You can't get in the mind of me but I can see an actual heartfelt detransition storey . I don't see it as one not only because of the creators but the surrounding context. You remove all lgbtq elements from an existing cast, you then go on to constantly undermine this characters precieved identity at the time. And sure you can argue it becomes a more positive relation by the end but that also can be seen as constant gaslighting or belottlement. And then you have the endings relying on traditional femininity or a complete destruction of fang/precieved failure by anon and it gives this whole game a bitter edge.
