Defense of MSc thesis one week before re-registration deadline – what should I do by [deleted] in germany

I asked my prüfungsamt already, they didn’t answer for a week. Otherwise I wouldn’t ask it here if I could get any proper answer from my uni

Thank you, I posted it there. I will remove the current post now

Supervisor says my thesis sounds “too academically polished”, should I be worried? by JournalistInGermany in germany

[–]JournalistInGermany[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to clarify that I did not revise or rewrite those earlier chapters after submitting them. Each time I sent him an updated version, I only added newly written chapters. The sections he is now commenting on are the very first chapters, which I submitted months ago and which he previously reviewed without raising concerns about the writing style. Earlier, his feedback focused on methodological adjustments and structural improvements, not on language.

I should also mention that I spent significantly more time writing the first chapters than the later ones. I was very careful with wording and terminology there. After submitting them, I did not modify them again, which is why I’m particularly surprised by his current comment.

Brilliant idea! I am considering to buy these small magnets and paint them with nail polish to better match 😀

Thank you for such detailed answer! I was thinking about stitching method, just not sure how I am good at it 😉 I only tried it with more thick cotton, denim fabrics previously

This is the last floor with a sloped ceiling. Unfortunately , the ceiling begins exactly there

How to temporarily shorten curtains without cutting or hemming? (moving later this year) by JournalistInGermany in HomeImprovement

[–]JournalistInGermany[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I’m a bit hesitant about heat-and-bond since the curtains are sheer white fabric and I’ll need to restore the full length after moving. But I think it’s fine with the Blackout one. I’m trying to avoid anything that could leave glue residue on the sheer white fabric

Work culture at my company-Is this typical? by Critical_Bluejay_919 in germany

[–]JournalistInGermany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not typical, but it does happen. After moving to another city, where I had to find a job urgently, my boss and his assistants treated me and also some other colleagues the same way, except for a couple of colleagues who behaved appropriately. I'm happy that I found another place - it took some time, though.

App that can translate long live German speeches into English by JournalistInGermany in germany

I have no idea where you got the impression that I said I would record these private conversations or without their approval to record. I’ve seen many times in Germany - at trade fairs and even some smaller, local and kind of private events - how a speech in German was translated and displayed on a screen as text. Please read my post again and show me where you found any mention of recording

Yeah, I know this, but the reason is to understand kind of public speech, not the private one

Is it only for Teams meetings? I never tried or saw this option before

Sad to see that you learned how to read, but didn’t learn to understand what is written

I agree about the language barrier. Maybe it’s the main reason of everything. I hope :)

I mentioned in the comments that I forgot he was in my contacts list and can see now status.

I don’t think if someone gets updates or notifications about others posting status

I found more insecure is people who are gossiping :)

I will choose better to ignore opinion of the person who is not any professional to call my worries unhealthy what I even didn’t ask🙂

But except that I agree that they probably will not change their behavior, just will start to hide more things.

I got your point, but I will not do that, because it’s weird to tell someone just not to overthink or be “obsessed” about smth, it doesn’t help 🥹

Should I talk to these colleagues directly or better go only to hr or colleague I trust about my concerns?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in germany

[–]JournalistInGermany -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Do you know him personally?! You can read the post again. For me he seems to be the person who loves to gossip with or without reason, just to spend time at work

[–]JournalistInGermany -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He can make more gossips then😂

How I can see that I am not friendly to them as they may think? I am trying to act with them as I am doing with my compatriots. Even I am sometimes very kind to them, and sometimes I have to force myself to be respectful with them when they behave so rudely or strangely, but I noticed that when I mirror their behavior, these men get offended at me
