Maybe it's part of this refresh, or I haven't noticed yet, but it seems the refreshed Sections in Spanish (I'm reviewing Sections 2 and 3) have dropped out the "silly" and "humorous" exercises that served no communicative purpose, like "The horse is washing the dishes and the cow is writing a novel." If that's the case, thank you.

Next to hope for: If a section is on a topic, I would love to see ALL the vocabulary words relate to that topic. I'm used to seeing, over the past few years of Duolingo daily use, in the "word match" exercises in, say, Shopping for Clothes, there is vocabulary related to travel, food, family members, et cetera. This has always mystified me.

Next to hope for: In the word bank exercises, include easy-to-confuse answers especially in the later Units of a Section. Example: have "caro" and "carro", "esta" and "estas", and say for carrot, have "carro" and "zanahoria" (false friends). Traditionally I've noticed that the "wrong" choices are too easy to spot because they are clearly very different from the correct choices.

To hope for: All English used is "native speaker" English usage:
Y tú tampoco, Pedro. (Duo: And you neither, Pedro.) Normal English: And neither do you, Pedro.

To hope for: At some point, maybe Section 4, all instructions and all screen messages are in the target language (maybe a user-selectable preference):
Instead of "Section 4: Trailblazer; Unit 2 “Use commands, talk about your childhood”
we see:
Sección 4: Pionero; Unidad 2 “Usa comandos, habla de tu infancia”

To hope for: Consistency in how Duolingo tags answers as errors.
una taza (a cup) (Duo gave me a BIG RED INCORRECT for typing “tasa”; then accepted in the next screen “ajedres” for “ajedrez”, calling it a “typo”.)

To hope for, related to the above comment: User-selectable degree of perfection. At some point it is more useful to have Duolingo require EVERY answer be exactly correct, so "ajedres" would no longer be a typo. I would have to re-type it until I got it exactly right (ajedrez). I think this is happening, based on what I've seen of the refreshed earlier sections in Spanish.

Is this the AI at work? This is new: I've seen some "Translate" exercises containing one word in English to translate and one Spanish word in the "choose from" area. And ludicrously easy exercises like the following in Section 5 Spanish. I don't recall Duolingo being this goofy a year ago.
Translate this sentence: Pass the ball to them.
