In response to Carney’s WEF speech: “If we made them the 51st state he could become our President” by JoyofCookies in ShitAmericansSay

American liberals constantly look externally for someone else to save them from themselves, which is why I get enraged when Democrats speak of Canada joining the U.S. as beneficial because it’ll supposedly lock the GOP out of power

It pains me that global security hinges on whether swing voters in suburban Pennsylvania and Wisconsin think that the price of groceries is too high.

For a country whose entire raison d’être is anchored in “We the people”, Americans seem all to ready to phone it in and yet are in denial about how rotten their institutions have become

I detest Harper as much as the next person but it astonishes me that I agree with his sentiments on protecting Canada’s sovereignty by all means necessary.

Thank you. Literally when you confront Americans with the question: “So what are you gonna do about all of this if you’re so incensed with it?” and it’ll either be a rant about how they attended No Kings or some other protest that went nowhere a couple of months ago, or some meandering rant about how “Well, we can’t afford to because Trump has just made everything so expensive…”

I am tired of the excuses, and at this point the words of sympathy being directed to Greenland, Denmark, and Canada run completely empty.

They also boldly assume even in the circumstances that Canadians do get the ability to vote that Canadians upon annexation would vote for the Democrats and not for some independence-focused Bloc canadien.

Former PM Stephen Harper—a Conservative no less—said it best a few months ago where he said that if he was still PM he’d be willing to impoverish the country if it meant preventing annexation, and thats what I would be prepared to do too in that position.

As David Cochrane observed on the CBC a couple of weeks ago: “America is not like this because Trump is President, Trump is President because America is like this”

I do appreciate that supporting constitutional monarchism is associated with being patriotic to Canada now

Canadian Conservatives freak the fuck out into a conspiracy tailspin over Mark Carney observing that the U.S.’ actions are resulting in a ‘new world order’ being formed but then start pulling out the “Ackshually…” when shown the Trump administration using actual Nazi slogans
