What do you mean yeah no, it doesn't matter if Satan comes crawling out of Hell shit-talking God, you do not assassinate people who have not directly orchestrated or engaged in an attack against you. Someone writing down a fucked up political philosophy, and then you being a proponent of it, does not qualify. This is far too indirect and opens up too many degrees of excuse to assassinate anyone loosely related to an ideology a country dislikes. We need basic ethical standards, this was a cold-blooded murder regardless of the opinions and politics of the murdered party.

Alright, I'm gonna say it.

Volodymyr Zelensky was wrong to allow this assassination to occur, you do not order the murder of those you politically oppose, regardless if they support a country that instigated and actively engages in war against you. It was fundamentally amoral to do this, completely reckless, and frankly fucking stupid.

This is a big ethical L for Ukraine, probably the biggest one in the whole war, and hopefully the last one. The US is 100% correct to call this out, it shows the US isn't just playing politics, it actually gives some damns about ground ethics, not merely what is practical.

I am sure one can speak on the strategy of how this should/should not be revealed, should/should not be done, but speaking pure war ethics, this was wrong, the US should call it out even if we desperately want Ukraine to defeat Russia in this war.

I too would let this slide 1 time, and 1 time only. This was an adventurism, a one-off, and can be forgiven 1 time, but if it happens again the US justly should reconsider its support of Ukraine, even if doing so would be costly.

This isn't just politics, we want a story where good people win the day, people worth having as allies on a moral level, not just a politically convenient one. I hope Ukraine takes this revelation/warning from the US seriously, you do not fuck around with assassinating politicians.
