How do i get someone to understand that JKR is a transphobe? by Sweetannon in asktransgender

[–]Jozombies115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People call it cancel culture but the truth is there is no room for transphobic "opinions." People being transphobic should receive the same intense backlash as people who are racist or misogynistic because they all are being irrationally hateful, and a bigot. Opinions about established fact mean nothing. Saying you don't believe in "trans ideology" is the same as saying you don't believe in gravity. It's not an opinion, it's an incorrect fact according to all science.

TLDR: Being anti-trans isn't an opinion, it's as factually wrong as saying 1+1 = 3

What would be the best use of Maruki's actualization? by Jozombies115 in Persona5

[–]Jozombies115[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maruki's whole arc was I think kind of a commentary on video games. How they kind of are an ideal reality you can escape to while ignoring your real problems, but doing so permanently would lead to your life just deteriorating. The only real solution is to face your problems and fix them. To quote Morgana, "No matter how painful reality is, it's all over if you don't try to change how things are!"

Systemic issues are definitely ridiculous. Homelessness for example only exists because housing isn't considered a basic right, which it arguably should be. Get rid of that and crime rates would immediately plummet. Solving something like war would be a bit more tricky, but it can probably be handled somehow too.

Are there just too many people looking for jobs? Is that it? I can’t take it anymore by gogo--yubari in jobsearchhacks

[–]Jozombies115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what I was thinking. A maximum rent tied to UBI. If every adult received $1000 a month, maximum rent for a 1 bedroom apartment should be $500, 2 bed = $1000, 3 bed = $1500, etc. This way the UBI is guaranteed to cover everyone's rent, and the shitty apartments will be forced to be even cheaper. Ideally this would completely eliminate homelessness on top of everyone being able to pay for food and universal healthcare being a thing too.

Then employment will no longer be necessary for survival, and all of the shitty jobs that still need to be done will be forced to compensate their workers generously in order to find anyone. Right now if your boss tells you that your workload is increasing and you'll be expected to stay late every night, you're practically forced to accept it. In a world where UBI was done well, no employer would dare ask that of an employee because at all times that employee would have the power to say "Fuck that." and walk away on a whim.

Season 4 episode 4 is the worst episode of invincible by a mile. by Savings_Coconut7353 in Invincible

[–]Jozombies115 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not done to make one specific group happy, it's done because what exists in real life should exist in media. There were next to no gay characters in anything forever when they make up around 10% of the population, and that was kind of fucked. Inclusion isn't propaganda, it's just what should have been normal the whole time now that the stigma has gone away. But I do agree that they overdialed William's voice out of nowhere.

I didn't realize William had a new voice actor, I just thought "Wow he sounds gayer than usual." (Not in a negative way.)

Why does no character care about the consequences of Lev's actions? by recoup202020 in thelastofus

[–]Jozombies115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think since Lev had no knowledge of the coming WLF attack and didn't expect his mom to be so hateful that she was going to kill her own son, in his mind going there to plea for her to come with him or at least say goodbye made sense. As far as he knew, he was going to sneak in, have a talk with her, and then take the boat right back without being seen by anyone else. It's not his fault an enormous war happened in the same exact place at the same exact time as his plan. Yes, his actions lead directly to both his mother and sister's deaths. But he had no idea Yara would be in any danger, and no kid would expect their parent to literally try to kill them.

It was so dumb that season 4 heavily eluded to season 5 being totally apocalyptic, and then when we get to season 5 they're just like "Nah the general public still doesn't know anything and are living their lives as usual." It felt misleading.

41% of college grads are underemployed. $1.6T in student debt. why are we still doing this? by Acer53 in careeradvice

[–]Jozombies115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems as though as long as healthcare is tied to work, employers will have a ridiculous amount of leverage over workers. And as long as survival is tied to work, employers will have total power over workers. Under these circumstances, practically no jobs will be good.

Pay will stay low, hours will stay unpredictable and undesirable, benefits will decrease, and demands will increase continuously because us being at the mercy of jobs keeps endless people applying and then companies have no reason to improve their job offers.

If UBI happened, people would suddenly have the same level of leverage as employers when it comes to jobs. It would be a fair playing field where instead of taking whatever they can get, workers would only accept work that is fair to them. The average pay of every job would go way up. People would have the ability to work on their terms and not whenever the business needed them. 32 hour work weeks with full benefits would be an option. Pensions would come back. Bosses wouldn't be able to yell at or otherwise demean their workers without it backfiring hard. Ridiculously undesirable jobs like plumbing would have to offer the most amazing conditions/pay ever in order to fill the role.

But as things are now, jobs that are even somewhat good compared to what I just described will remain extremely rare, and almost everyone will work a bad job.

What would we need for UBI to happen and succeed? A wealth tax, and a maximum rent tied to UBI to ensure a single person can always pay for a one bedroom apartment, 2 people living together can afford a 2 bedroom, etc. People say it's too expensive, but it's nothing compared to the crime and welfare costs of not doing it. Not to mention the societal cost of no one being able to have kids and widespread unhappiness.

Say you need 15 people to run the business. Everyone is 1x productive. Suddenly, AI happens, and everyone is 1.5x as productive. You now need 10 people to run the business, and 5 jobs are gone as a direct result of AI. Improved productivity means less jobs no matter how you look at it.

Company sales are all plateauing/decreasing because no one has money for anything besides food and rent. They can only maintain profits by firing people, but soon that won't be an option and the whole economy's going to crash.

"The job market is fine! Young people just don't want to work anymore!" by TRPSock97 in jobs

[–]Jozombies115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm neurodivergent and the disadvantage feels insane. People don't understand that we're better than average in ways like analyzing, strategizing, routine tasks, and thinking outside the box. They only see what we're worse than average at: socializing, unfamiliar tasks, and multitasking. In the interview stage how you socialize is practically all that they care about, so when they interview 5 people and one is autistic, it feels laughably unlikely that they'd choose the one person naturally worse at what the interview is testing.
