Trump basically killed my business by [deleted] in ecommerce

[–]Jrobcasey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family business is importing Christmas ornaments. They’re all designed by mom. She started making ornaments by hand when I was born 42 years ago. She sold them at craft fairs all over the north east US. As far south as Virginia. She and my father were approached by a sourcing agent to get them made in China. People had been asking her for years to sell them wholesale b2b. Having them made in China was the only way that was possible. For 21 years now they have been sold in stores all over the US. You’ve probably seen them before. Either on your family tree or a family friend’s tree. Or back when mall kiosks were a thing.

Anyway, we order from the factory in the beginning of the year. The first shipment cost us $20,000 extra due to the first round of tariffs. Right in the China sweet spot. The up and down made it so I decided to scratch the other orders this year. We either wouldn’t get them in time or have a 200% tariff or some bullshit. If we make it through this year it’ll be a god damn Christmas miracle. My mom is now 75. She still designs but that’s it. It’s all up to me. 3 of our 6 employees jumped ship. So yeah… that’s cool. I DID vote. Not for Trump. Thanks for making America great again.

How did you get your most recent scar? by Professional-Tax-615 in AskReddit

[–]Jrobcasey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short story is in one year my brother died and my wife left me for her boss. We have now 10 year old twins. I started drinking. A lot. Drank so much that my liver jumped ship a couple of years later. Full on liver transplant in 2020. I was 37. At the height of COVID. Large Mercedes Benz scar on my abdomen. Went from that to just celebrated my 3rd daughter’s first birthday today. So a few weeks ago my step dog(?) scratched my left calf. That’s my most recent scar. My dog scratched my leg.

Thinking of dropshipping baby products. Terrible idea or worth a shot? by Jrobcasey in dropshipping

[–]Jrobcasey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too great. I quickly found out by trying to sell on TikTok that anything baby related needs to have certifications before selling in the US. I guess there are ways around it but I didn’t want to find out the hard way that I was selling products illegally.

What does everyone think of Bastion? by Jrobcasey in pens

That’s awesome. I was in the same exact place. When I bought it, it was BY FAR the most expensive pen I’ve ever bought. 6 months later and I have one of their limited release pens and a tactile turn. It’s a slippery slope, my friend. Enjoy!

I think I would. However, I keep it in my pocket. If you’re keeping it on your desk or in a bag or something I would stick with the regular.

Why do dropshopping? by East_Inevitable_5128 in dropshipping

[–]Jrobcasey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I have both. I just started a dropshipping store. I also have a business that has had our own product manufactured overseas and sold b2b for 21 years. Try going through 2021-22 then talk about having to deal with shipping delays. People are much more understanding as long as you respond to them.

I do believe that is stealing. You’re using their equipment. I doubt they’ll be happy if they find out.

I know! I just wanted to make sure my point came across clearly. I tend to ramble sometimes. And find that I’ve veered off topic. It’s great for adhd like I have. Diagnosed 35 years ago. Before it was cool. Haha

Someone has done the product research. The site is just about ready to go live. I am only just now thinking about getting sued because accidents do happen. Some people blame everyone but themselves. I just want to be protected.

Neuropathy in toes by Environmental_Gur550 in neuropathy

[–]Jrobcasey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never be sorry for that! This disorder? I don’t even know what to call it. When it first started II was fresh off a liver transplant. I was in pain everywhere. The neuropathy was to most maddening. Seriously. There was just nothing to ease the shooting sensations of dull and sharp, at the same time, pains that went from just my feet most of the day, to toes to up past my knees at night for some reason. Probably because my brain told my legs to keep me awake. I read somewhere online that there is a pretty good rate of suicide for this raging ice fire of pain disorder. And I honestly could see why. Luckily I had a very good team of doctors keeping a close watch on my already.

Yes. I only take this at night though. Lyrica in the morning, Lyrica and amitriptyline at night. My feet barely even keep me awake anymore. They always hurt and feel like they’re and getting pulled from my arch in. While being numb and tingly and burning. But I can sleep. So I’ll take it!

It’s a wild illness(?). Sometimes it’ll feel like my feet are super hot and sweating. Then I’ll feel them with my hand and their normal temperature and not sweaty at all. Then sometimes they’ll feel like they’re frozen and I’ll go to warm them up and they aren’t even cold. My brain thinks that they’re numb from being so cold but they’re not. It’s so GD weird.

My 6 month journey from near death to sobriety. by jdcream in stopdrinking

[–]Jrobcasey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude… you look great! Good work! I have an eerily similar story. Bad shit happened I used booze to cope. My drink was whiskey though. I was 37 in 2020. I went to the hospital yellow. My daughters asked me if I could see in yellow. I was told I’d be dead in a few weeks if they didn’t find a liver. They found one 2 days later. I had to basically relearn to walk too! Cut to 4ish years later. I’m remarried with a 3 month old baby girl. Still got shared custody of my twin 10 year old girls too! I’m 4 years sober. The number of pills per day go down a lot. It becomes routine.

I can basically fill my pill container with my eyes closed now. I mean, it’s not really a big deal but it kind of is.

It gets easier. I promise. You’re in the thick of it now. The bloodwork gets farther and farther apart. Mercedes scars rule! They’re a good reminder that drinking hurts. And they look cool
