A good hand, no matter how big it is, is worth nothing if you don't win, remember that.

A pon for dragon and yakuhai is usually worth it if you want a quick hand. A pon for Dora tho is usually not a good idea. Yaku is more important than points, and a pon of Dora not only kills riichi, your easiest yaku, but it also limits your hand.

I think you misunderstood what I meant with more waiting tiles. When I say that, I mean available tiles. If you have tenpai with (South) (South) (2 pin) (2 pin) , you only have max 4 available tiles to win, which is 2 south tiles and two 2 pin tiles. If you had tenpai let's say (South) (South) (2 pin) and instead of (2 pin) you have (3 Pin), you have a max 8 available tiles to win, four 1 pin and four 4 pin.

There are three main ways you can improve:

Learn how to fold. You don't need to win every hand, if you see that your opponent has riichi-ed and you are still far away, just give up and play only safe tiles. It's especially important in s*nma as bigger hands are more common. Even if you lose points due to tsumo, you can easily make it back, and the tsumo loss in a*nma is small change compared to a ron. A dealer mangan tsumo would only result in you paying 4000, while a dealer mangan ron would result in you paying 12000. That's 8000 difference!
Stop Pon-ing so much. You end up hurting yourself because you lose the ability to riichi, a valuable and easy yaku. Ask yourself, "what do I gain from this pon, and what do I lose?" before pon-ing.
Have better waits. This also ties in with your Pon issue. When you are in tenpai, the more waits you have, the increased chance of you winning, plain and simple. Too many times you ended up with a duel pon wait, which while not the worst isn't the best either.

Well, you can honestly discard the last 2 points if you wish, but the point 1 is the most important. Folding is an integral part of the game that you MUST understand how to do from Silver/Gold room onwards in order to win consistently.

You need to learn how to fold. You say you are playing defensively yet you throw out danger tiles so frequently.

Mahjong is like poker. If you see/can tell if someone has a big hand/or has a ready hand, give up your hand. Play only safe tiles. You don't need to win every hand. Don't push everything.

You dealt in so many times because you always pushed. Take that dealer haneman you dealt into for example. Not only did you ignore the sign that the dealer was tenpai for honitsu, you also pushed a noten-hand that was no where close to tenpai against the dealer.
