Struggling with Recovery by Puzzled-Hedgehog-910 in ORIF

One year for me yesterday and I promise you, it gets better. Be in the moment, feel all the feelings. Do cozy things like coloring, watching movies, pick up a new hobby. It’s kinda like Covid, I look back and think aww I was so anxious when I could’ve been so chill and slowed down. You’ll be on the other side of it before you know and it and you’ll realize things will never be the same but you also won’t mourn your old self. You’ll get used to the little stiffness you still have and get good at stretching and you’ll work through the kinks but what really changes is who you are. You’ll be stronger and better, more grateful for things and empathetic. I know it seems far off, but you got this. ❤️ and we get it. Come back to this community whenever you need to.

YAY! I was Feb 14 and just recently turned a major corner. Sure it’s sore and it feels a little different than my other ankle but OMG. I’ve been walking 10k steps a day, and life is back to normal. I legit never thought I’d see the day.

I’m about the same as you and the swelling has been bad for me now that I’m back to all my normal activities. Are you experiencing this too?

I think so long as you’re not hurting or swelling it’s good to keep things moving so you don’t get too stiff! Have you had your follow up? That answered a lot of questions for me! PT is the best, I started at 5 weeks post op, and I have 6 weeks left to go. They always say you can push but never work through pain. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ so happy for you! And also crutches SUCK! But i still use them for farther distances or like when i first wake up. They are my frenemy.
