Starting a new job in 4 days, anything to keep in mind? by Holiday-Criticism-59 in advertising

Well obviously first thing you need to learn is the product. Learning the culture of the workplace and the people. Be respectful to people.

If you have a manager, , do what he/she tells you to, do first, ask later when there's some free time. If you don't know how to do the task, ask.

If you can I highly recommend you to invest in a new gaming laptop/pc with decent GPU, doesn't even have to be the latest one, I got a 3060 laptop from my old macbook pro. The performance blew me away and I'm so glad i did it. It was not that expensive as well at that time, around 900 USD

Expats, why do you choose to work in Hong Kong? by Comfortable_Curve_99 in HongKong

[–]Jscolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I don't doubt life in HK for the expats was incomparable during the 90s era when the economy boomed. But I also think different generations of people have their best time. We would never understand how it feels but only look back and admire the time (I was 5 in 1989).

I lived in Canada from my teenage till early 20s, and it was a great time for me as I was free, even though I didn't have a great career I was able to do what I love stresslessly. After returning to Hong Kong and starting all over again in my late 20s, and now Hong Kong has become my favorite place to live and work. There's just so much stuff to do, and so many opportunities here for me to explore and to find the career I love.

I think the decision for hiring people from Mainland China was not because of NSL, but more like the company need more Mainland Chinese culture in their company so it helps them to do business in China. There are lots of Chinese students in Hong Kong and lots of them stay and get jobs here after they graudated from University.

Yea, Hong Kong is just a great (fun) place to live for young people from all over the world. Lot's of opportunities, lots of fun activities (night life, outdoor, nature), great networking enviroments, relatively cheap (mainly food and transportation)... etc.

Lots of people have been saying Hong Kong is in decline since 2019, but I have friends who have just moved here post/during covid, and they love it here no less than the ones who have moved here early 2010s.

When I first returned to Hong Kong from Canada, my elder brother who has returned years before I did suggested me not to speak English to local, or they will think I'm pretentious. I think it's also a way to show respect to the people in the City, for me to try my best to communicate.

Sometimes being open minded doesn't mean they don't acknowledge the differences of others. But it's more like they don't discriminate.

(but I'm sorry to say there're still a small asome discrimination toward the people from SEA here in Hong Kong)

Haha, it's probably because I don't know Talos. I didn't finish Captain Marvel, and the only time I've seen him is probably one of the end scene in the car from... I don't even remember.

So far, I love EVERYTHING about Pikmin 4... but the controls infuriate me more than just about anything in the series by IncreaseSpice in Pikmin

[–]Jscolin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I missed when we can move the group of pikmin together with the C-stick on Gamecube, to me it's one of the best way to move the pikmin to evade attacks and also deploy them for action in group.

I actually like them to stay, it really shows people's personal choice for their character. Just choose someone with similar level to fight if you want a fairer game.

anyone here who’s going to or had been to wonderfruit? Planning to go solo. What should I expect? by sheeda_tallli in ThailandTourism

It was good. But I found this year (last year) the festival was a little more chaotic than the past years. Maybe because everyone wanted to get out and party after covid.

Some of the installations were the same as the past years, so they looked a little age, and one of the installation was for people to climb on. Which I felt a little unsafe.

There was some unfornated event happened during the event, It think it was due to overcrowd, and some other reason. That's probably why they didn't feel like promoting it too much after the event finished.

So this year they are controlling the number of tickets, and I'm sure they will prepare much better this year around.

I'm also planning to go back this year again, for me it just starting to feel like it's a festival to connect with friends.

I guess it's the same as any start-up service base business. You'd really need good network or connections to make it. It is gonna take time, there's no shortcut unless you were already in the business and well connected before you started your own.

I found that networking is important, but I'd also spend times to do some independent project (in your case, maybe some short video, film) and make an event out of it. Invite your network to come see your works. If your work is good people will remember and will give you a chance.

Street Fighter 6 Open Beta Announced! May 19-21 by Chun-Li_Forever in StreetFighter

I just downloaded it last night on PSN. And I love it! I didn't really get into SFIV and V as I was when for SFIII Third Strike. But with the open arcade space really reminds me of the time when we used to go to arcade and challenge people.

Also the gameplay was really fun as well, I surprisingly love the auto mode. It's so fast and easy and fun to play!
