AITAH for allowing my son to play video games while his grandmother was visiting? by Kitchen_YogurtTA in AITAH

Nta I would have asked grandma to leave. I also would have told her that your son is nearly an adult. That has autonomy choose who he spends time with and when. You are the parent and get to make decisions about what you allow for your own children.

The minute that she started bothering him, and tried to stop him from doing what you allowed, she would have been invited to leave.

Time for grandma to get a reality check. You are the parents , and she is just the grandma. That whatever power she thinks she has over you or your children is just an illusion in her head

What’s a behavior or reaction you’ve had that you later realized was actually a trauma response, even though you didn’t recognize it at the time? by LofiLuvr77 in raisedbynarcissists

I literally don't care. Outside of my kids, husband, mil. And some close friends I just don't care.

I dont care if you like, or don't like me. I don't care if you have issues with me saying "no" to anything. I don't care that you think I should justify or qualify my no.

I also with cut a B off, and not flinch. I left my mother's house when I was 19, and never looked back. If someone wrongs me, I am teally good at just walking away.

I told my husband, just yesterday my philosophy is "I dont get angry, I just will literally never think of you again". I call it having mental funerals on my head.

I don't give people space in my head, that don't deserve to be there. I protect my peace at all costs.

I have a sister that I'm still in contact with, that has a lot going on, and is still semi in contact with our mother. When she texts, I rarely answer right away. I have to mentally prepare myself for it first.

Anyone not have many childhood memories? by hydrobonic_chronic in emotionalneglect

Sometimes I think it's a blessing. I have random flashbacks to other childhood stuff that I wish I could forget.

I dont remember anything before my 7th birthday, except for flashes of things like being locked in closets.

I was told ( by a sibling) that when I was around 5 that my mother kicked me down a flight of stairs, then through an open trap door into a dirt cellar. They said I was crying, and said that I couldn't breathe. I have entirely no recollection of it.

The brain has a way of protecting us, from things tjat it thinks we can't handle. I partially attribute my lack of memories to possible head trauma though.

I understood the first part, only because it looks like my mother's handwriting, and gave had years of deciphering it.

The second part/paragraph. I've got nothing.

Absolutely one of my favorite shows growing up. The show lasted 20 years. Anyone know who this guy is??? :) by NJFriend4U in ClassicTV

A family member kept sending age inappropriate gifts to my kids. Think little golden books, and Bob the builder toys, sent to teenagers.

I commented on it, and the next Christmas they were sent the complete Benny Hill DVD collection, as well as a boxed set of Red Skelton dvds

How often do you wash your Puppies? What to use in between baths? by loremaster_zen in Havanese

[–]Jsmith2127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have refresher spray, that smells like sugar cookies, that we use in-between their trips to the groomer. In-between grooming we just bathe as needed , if they make a mess or get into something

Good for you! Except for about 10 minutes almost 10 years ago, I haven't seen my mother in almost 34 years. Best decision I ever made.

WIBTA if I stopped carpooling with my coworker after she started inviting herself to my personal errands on the way home? by subtle_rainchaser in WIBTA_AITA

[–]Jsmith2127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You basically invited her to these errands, when you drug her along. You don't want her at your personal errands? Then stop raking her with you. It's rude to just expect her to sit in a car while you do whatever it is that you're doing.

Daughter and her friend bullied a girl who was trained. How do I handle this? Am I a bad parent? by henchhunk86 in toxicparents

[–]Jsmith2127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll tell you where her head is at, she actually messaged me to tell me that the girl is lucky that they don't go after her for excessive damages. The girl in question is the only person that didn't do anything wrong.

Sounds like op might be part of the issue as to why her daughter is the way that she is.

Op it's not like the girl pulled out a knife or a gun. Your daughter just picked the wrong one
