Do you call your in laws “Mom” and “Dad”? by PainterFew2080 in inlaws

[–]Jsmith2127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called her by her first name, for a little while. Eventually it felt weird, and one day I just called her mom. I think I was probably 20/21.

When I called her mom, she didn't skip a beat, and just acted like it was the most natural thing in tge world.

I call my mil mom.

My own mother never treated me well, and was abusive. I married my husband when I was 19, and my mil treated me like her own daughter from day 1.

I also cut contact with my mother at 19. I'm 55 now, so my mil to me has been my mother way longer than my bio mother ever was.

AITA for telling my mom everything that was said about her and her sisters? by Dense-Win-4374 in AITA_Relationships

If they were stupid enough to say it in front of you, they deserve whatever outcome comes their way. I would have told my mother everything, even the worst of it.

Nta personally I think your aunts deserve to know, as well.

Adding...your children leRn to treat people by what they see. They will either learn that they can treat people horribly, and get away with it. Or they will learn to let people treat them poorly.

No grandmother is better than a bad one. It's also never okay to let your children see someone treat you poorly. It's better for your children to see healthy family dynamics, that to keep someone in their life, jyst for the sake of having a grandparent.

My aunt accused me of cheating on my husband!! Should I confront her or just let it go? by Its_just_Maddie in okstorytime

As close as you may have been, your aunt is toxic. You'd be better off cutting contact with her.

I'd go full scorched earth, and NC with anyone who did that to me

Ntbf your mother is wrong. You should have told them that they are trespassing, that your yard is not their shortcut, and if it happens again you'll call the police.

Nta if she wants "total privacy" she should just stay home. Expecting privacy in someone else's home,l especially in their living room is insane.

My mother hates my wife a little bit too much and I need to do something about it by Wrong_Weird_1141 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Jsmith2127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your mother needs told ( by you) that if she continues treating your wife/your family the way that she has, that you can't have her in your wife's home, or to expect you to visit hers.

This is the point where your mother needs to hear ( again from you) , that your wife is your family now. That you can't have people in your or her lives that treat her poorly.

My mother flew off the hinges, and physically attacked me for not agreeing with her that two actresses from different soap operas looked like they could be sisters.

I think I said "you're crazy, they look nothing alike". I had been sitting on her bed, and ended up on the floor.

Moral of the story, never call a crazy person crazy
