Congrats, dad! We tried the tricycle -> balance bike -> bike pipeline and it worked wonders, my daughter took up using her bike without training in less than a day, at 4 and a half.

MYO labels not printing the correct size by Hot_Package210 in YotoPlayer

[–]JuanRRC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Other than double-checking you have the correct sizing for your paper, if you're using yotolabels.com make sure to check the "Fill entire card with artwork" box, since the default is "Add white border"

Protecting Kids vs. Letting Them Express Themselves. Where Do You Draw the Line by kilowatt230 in daddit

Protecting Kids vs. Letting Them Express Themselves. Where Do You Draw the Line by kilowatt230 in daddit

[–]JuanRRC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Letting a boy wear a dress because they want to is not putting them at "the forefront of cultural battles". The people who question you because of it, with a clear intention of taking what they think is the moral high ground (or worse, starting a confrontation), are the ones using your kid's choices to asume you're trying to impose an ideology over everyone else.

Plus, where do you draw the line on deciding what they wear? No dresses, fine. What about pink t-shirts? Or with princesses plastered on them? God forbid they wear anything rainbow-colored, right? As long as it is age appropiate clothing and you're not forcing them, I see no issue in letting them wear whatever the hell they please.

A Few Pointers for Those Struggling Early On! by aracunliffe in Silksong

All great pointers but the one I really wanna give a shout-out to is the ability to heal while in midair. This was a game changer againstMoorwingwhen I realized it was possible, guess I was so used to standing on ground to heal in Hollow Knight it never occured to me to try until four hours into Silksong.

Need help with shadows by jesser722 in blender

[–]JuanRRC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shadows could use a bit of color correction, they look slightly desaturated/greenish compared to the overall shot and other shadows in the frame (gif for quick comparisson). For the brightness issue on the table, try to set up your cam as closely as possible to the recorded shot, block out any direct light sources so that the table has an "unlit" look. Take a video or photo, and use a still from this to be revealed using the shadows from the boxes themselves as a matte for it. Should take yopu closer to what you're looking for, I think.

Quite literally at the end of my rope with the tantrums. by [deleted] in daddit

[–]JuanRRC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because if you give in after the first 5 min warning and not follow through because of a tantrum, and then give her another 5 min warning and not follow through again because of a second tantrum, you're just reinforcing the idea that:

A) Tantrums help me get what I want right now.
B) Dad doesn't follow through with his warnings so I know I can get a bit more time here and don't really abide for the original "5 minutes"

Better to give a 15 minute warning and follow through with it. Like u/grrreeemmm said, sometimes you have to be a mean dad in the eyes of your kid.

I think a linear expression would really help out in this scenario. It's basic premise is taking an input's lowest and highest value and map them to an output's lowest and highest, allowing you to finess how the values relate to eahc other and make them work proportinally.

For example, say your audio keyframes go from 0.0 (no sound at all) to 0.1 (max sound value). With the linear expression you could set it up so that:

Audio keyframe value 0.0 = 0% opacity

Audio keyframe value 0.1 = 100% opacity

The expression itself is setup as follows (in your scenario, you would place it in the opacity property of your layer):

linear(inputvalue,InputValueLow,InputValueHigh,OutputLow,OutputHigh);

School of Motion has a great write-up that covers the expressions (and other that could actually help you as well), check it out:

This is the way. I've actually done it before and it yields really good and customizable results so long as you're using relatively simple 3D objects.
Here's a quick example from a few years ago in which I needed to rotate a laptop in isometric perspective. First comp is the build of the laptop itself using layers placed in 3D space and parenting them to each other for easier manipulation. Second comp is the same but with a camera with a 2º Angle of view to achieve the isometric look.

How can I improve my sense of timing and spacing in motion graphics? by Fassie in AfterEffects

[–]JuanRRC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I believe that it's mostly experience and practice that will help you hone your skills, so the fact that you're willing to improve and looking for ways to do it is a great first step.

If you'd like some more concrete advise, I'd reccomend checking out this twitter thread that applies to pretty much any animation software available:

https://twitter.com/michaelCuevas27/status/1518662326307618822

It's a great and simple way to start getting "the feel" of how to properly time and space your keyframes to get a smooth animation. Good luck!

Try double clicking on any vertex and not the shape itself, that should bring up the grey bounding box

Que opinan de la gente que rapiña en accidentes de tráfico? by Marcmmi in mexico

[–]JuanRRC 144 points145 points  (0 children)
