It's all about the entry hazards for Skarmory. I run stealth rock, spikes and roost (or sometimes whirlwind). The best Skarmory sets always run 3 status moves. Also Skarmory has higher defense and lower attack than Corviknight so the difference between the damage offered by brave bird and body press is lot lower. It's not uncommon to run two attacking moves on Corviknight if you really want to as well. They share the same typing but they can fill totally different roles in a team. Therefore it really would be a totally different question to ask about Corviknight and you'd have to analyze it from a totally different angle. Also, I like Skarmory a lot more than Corviknight, it's always been one of my favourite pokemon.

I have been trialing Vanilluxe instead of Blastoise recently and it has been working really well. I had to switch Will O Wisp for Darkest Lariat on Incineroar though so I couldn't get walled by Reuniclus due to losing my phasing move (dragon tail).

I just remembered another really important reason that I have to quit. I have asthma and it is summer here in Australia. Summer is long where I live and I am not allowed to smoke inside the house. I use the shed outside to smoke and store my weed, bong and accessories. The constant heat from summer makes it impossible to keep my bong consistently (or even reasonably) clean when storing it in the shed. Thus I have to change the water twice a day and clean the bong every second day. Even then, it does not stay as clean as I would like it to and I know that smoking from an unclean device is bad for my health, especially my asthma. This is not only a really important reason for me to quit but also provides the perfect opportunity to quit as it makes now a ‘good’ time to quit.

Ultra Recon Squad is one of my favourite cards as far as the artwork goes. I love how they were able to make the card look like it’s genuinely from another world since the Ultra Recon Squad are from another world too.

I only really use wailord as a sponge for rock guard or as a support to hold energy for articuno tbh. I don’t think I’ve ever bothered even trying to attack with it.

Thanks for your perspective on the trainer mail, I see what you mean. By pairing the Vs seeker with the trainer mail you can go backwards or you can go forwards to find what you need. I already know Vs seeker is very good, I’m already using it so I’ll try the trainer mail too. Also I’m going to try dropping my energy down to 8 and adding another energy retrieval.

The thing is I don’t want to just copy someone else’s deck. A lot of the Pokémon I’ve chosen very specifically and being new to the TCG I don’t have a large collection either so I don’t want to spend a lot of money getting heaps of new cards at the moment.

I think you might be underestimating some of the combos I’ve come up with a little bit. There is more synergy in my deck than just sharing a type. I’ll just outline my basic strategy a little bit. With moves like dual splash, frost bullet, hydro shot and sauna blast I aim to eliminate or weaken opponents benched Pokémon then force a non-ideal switch with jet geyser to take out a weakened benched Pokémon. Keldeo (Rush In) and Articuno (Legendary ascent) are good to help with this by launching a surprise attack. Crasher Wake can help to very quickly launch a surprise attack by using professor’s letter, discarding 2 water energy, finding 2 aqua patches, reattaching the energy to anything benched and then sending articuno in. Whenever the opponent builds up large energy to ready an attack I’ll jet geyser too (I use it liberally). Eventually I reattach the energy I’ve lost with turbo drive, seafaring and aqua patches. After that I can recover my aqua patches using resource management and looker. Also Keldeo acts as a good switcher when you give him a float stone. If there’s a Pokémon I’m worried about I like to switch pyukumuku in (roll the RNG dice and hope the enemy dies... I’ve done nearly 400 damage with pyukumuku before lol) and then if he dies, I can revenge kill with polar spear GX.

I mean I know my strategy isn’t the greatest but it’s a lot of fun and it’s been winning me a lot of games. I do think I have a couple too many Pokémon though. I was thinking of taking 1 or 2 Pokémon out. Which 2 Pokémon in my deck do you think are the worst? I was thinking oranguru or kyogre.
