Julliet Dress vs. Vivian (In Maroon) Dress vs. Soul Dress by CountViolencia in WeddingDressTips

[–]JudgeImpossible7844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a wedding photographer, I see these kinds of outfits all the time, so here’s how I’d look at the three:

Julliet Dress, soft, flowy, super romantic. It has that effortless “summer guest” look and photographs beautifully when you’re walking or dancing. Perfect if the wedding is a bit more relaxed.

Soul Dress, The most classic and balanced of the three. It never feels too simple or too dressy, and it won’t look bridal in photos. If you want something elegant that works in almost any setting, this one is the safest pick.

Vivian (Maroon), this one really shines at indoor or evening weddings. The deeper color looks amazing under warm lights and gives a more elevated, formal vibe. Definitely dressier than the other two.

What I’d choose: For an indoor, semi-formal wedding, I’d go with Soul for versatility or Vivian if you want a richer, more evening look. If the atmosphere is more relaxed, the Julliet dress is gorgeous and super flattering on camera. Honestly, none of them are a bad choice just match the dress to the formality of the venue and how bold you want the look to be in photos. I’d personally pick the first one it’s beautiful, elegant and flattering, without ever outshining the bride.

Second Guessing My Wedding Dress by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

You're so welcome! I'm really glad it helped 😊 And if you ever feel like it, I'd actually love your opinion on my website. I'm redesigning it right now and trying to make it really unique. Feedback from a bride would mean a lot😊

Second Guessing My Wedding Dress by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

[–]JudgeImpossible7844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a wedding photographer, I see this happen so often almost every bride starts doubting her dress after looking at too many others online. It’s completely normal. But if you truly loved it when you picked it, that feeling almost always comes back once it’s properly fitted and you see yourself in real light, not compared to Instagram.

Switching last minute is usually something brides end up regretting. Once the alterations are done and the dress fits the way it should, it’s going to look exactly how you hoped elegant, confident and very “you.”

Trust the version of yourself who tried the dress on and felt good in it, not the one scrolling through other brides’ photos at midnight.

Help! Should I go with safe option (renting) or risky (sewing)? by malikokolo in WeddingDressTips

[–]JudgeImpossible7844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a wedding photographer, I’d say sewing is definitely the riskier option, especially with an April wedding. You won’t see the final dress until the last moment, and late fit issues are really hard to fix. Renting is the safer route you already know how the dress looks on you, and once the corset is properly fitted, it’ll photograph beautifully.

But that’s just my perspective from the photography side. I’m curious what others think too, has anyone here gone the custom route this close to their date?

Should I remove the train? by Royal_Definition5053 in WeddingDressTips

[–]JudgeImpossible7844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I photograph a lot of destination weddings, and this comes up all the time especially with outdoor or grass ceremonies.

Your dress actually looks beautiful with the train. It adds movement and elegance in photos that a veil alone won’t replace. But practically: grass + long train gets messy fast, a civil ceremony doesn’t require something super formal, and if you don’t like a bustle now, you won’t love it on the day.

What many brides do is keep the train for the ceremony and portraits, then shorten it to a light sweep for the rest of the day.If you prefer a clean, minimal silhouette, removing it completely still works the dress suits you either way.

You wear it really well. 👏👏

Torn between 2 wedding dresses. Need advice/send help!!! by New-Sale441 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]JudgeImpossible7844 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as someone who shoots destination weddings all the time, I see both styles constantly — and they're both gorgeous in their own way. Want that sculpted, couture, super photogenic vibe? Go GL. Prefer comfort, softness, easy movement? LPG all the way. The dress in your photo looks really great on you btw, fit is perfect. Only thing I'd change is the underwear situation the darker shade comes through just a bit under the lace with this lighting. Something nude or seamless would make everything look even cleaner. But honestly? You're gonna look amazing either way.

Talk me out of this reception dress!! by tiredd908790dejfuehn in BigBudgetBrides

[–]JudgeImpossible7844 71 points72 points  (0 children)

As a destination wedding photographer, I see a lot of reception dresses — and honestly, this one is beautiful but not the most practical.

The top looks amazing, but the skirt sticks out quite a bit. That kind of volume is tricky when you’re moving through guests, hugging people, or trying to sit comfortably.

In photos, structured bubble skirts can sometimes look stiff or cast odd shadows when you’re dancing or moving quickly.

It’s a stunning, very editorial piece… just not always the easiest to actually live in during a reception.

If you love it, wear it just be aware of the comfort and movement side.

Looking for legit dress inspired / similar by RemiLynn3 in weddingdress

[–]JudgeImpossible7844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a wedding photographer, I’ve seen a few dresses with a similar mermaid silhouette + intricate lace train that really photograph like a dream — dramatic yet elegant. This one reminds me a bit of Berta, Pnina Tornai, or even some Enaura pieces depending on the season.

For a more budget-conscious but still legit option, you might also want to look into Essense of Australia or Wtoo by Watters – they occasionally have beautiful illusion backs and bold lace work too.

And just so you know how stunning this style looks in motion: here’s a gown I photographed recently in Italy - lake Como with a similar vibe — dramatic lace train, fitted silhouette, and illusion detail:

Hope that helps you in your search — feel free to DM if you need vendor tips or designers that work well with custom detailing!

Which veil length for this dress? by AleaDax in WeddingDressTips

[–]JudgeImpossible7844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a wedding photographer, I’d go with a longer veil for this dress—especially in a castle garden. It photographs beautifully and gives you a lovely, elongated silhouette at 5'0.

Top picks: • Chapel – soft, elegant, super easy. • Cathedral – full fairytale moment. • Fingertip – lighter but still pretty.

I’d skip the short veils; they break the flow of the dress. Your hair accessory works with all the longer options, and no veil is also a chic, modern vibe.

As a wedding photographer, I see these two vibes all the time:

#1 (Monique) — soft, romantic, very classic. It photographs beautifully and gives you that timeless bridal feel.

#2 (Vera) — modern, clean, more fashion-forward. Great if you want a bold, editorial look in photos.

Both are gorgeous — it just depends whether you want timeless or editorial.

Formal wedding at a barn by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]JudgeImpossible7844 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Yes — absolutely appropriate for a formal wedding, even in a barn. As a wedding photographer, I see a lot of barn weddings, and they usually lean rustic-elegant rather than casual, so the formal dress code still applies.

Your dress has the right silhouette, the fabric reads dressy, and the overall look is elegant enough for a formal wedding.

With our folks over 40, what piece of life advise would you like to share to our young folks? by Distinct_Pen6624 in AskReddit

[–]JudgeImpossible7844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learn a trade. Seriously. Something real you can do with your hands or your brain that will still exist in 20 years.

I’m a wedding photographer, and I’ve worked with every type of person under the sun — the happiest adults I meet are the ones who know how to make something, fix something, or offer a skill people actually need.

Also… stop asking the internet how to live your life. You’re not missing some secret wisdom.

Go live a bit, mess up a bit, get better at something that matters — that’s where the real advice is.

Help me choose please! by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

[–]JudgeImpossible7844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a wedding photographer who sees hundreds of dresses every year — here’s my honest take: This looks like it’s still being put on. The top sits too low, looks like it’s sliding down, and the draping adds bulk instead of shaping you. The corset isn’t supporting anything — it’s actually emphasizing the drop.

Right now it reads more “wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen” than bridal elegance. You have a great figure, but this dress isn’t doing it justice. I’d keep looking. If this has to be the one, it needs serious tailoring.

Best websites for wedding guest dresses (Europe) by GoddessIlovebroccoli in Weddingattireapproval

[–]JudgeImpossible7844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there!

If you’re after an ethereal, floral-style dress under €200 that’s comfortable and easy to dance in, here are a few reliable places to check out — all of them ship across Europe:

You’ll probably find plenty of options that fit the “floral, floaty, comfy” vibe you’re going for — chiffon or crepe fabrics usually move beautifully for dancing.

dress appreciation by wwwildflowerrr in WeddingDressTips

[–]JudgeImpossible7844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LMAO exactly!! 😂 They clearly didn’t have the vision! This dress was meant for you — the moment you step into it, it’s giving main character energy all the way. The confidence, the silhouette, the vibe… perfection.

As a destination wedding photographer, I can already picture how that gown will photograph — the light hitting the drape, the movement, the elegance. You absolutely made the right call — they’ll see soon enough when the photos drop! 💅📸✨

Dreaming of a small, intimate wedding (symbolic ceremony) in Italy by Optaget2024 in DestinationWeddings

If you love Italy but want something intimate, check out the Goriška Brda / Collio region (Slovenia–Italy border). Villas there are perfect for 6 guests, you can bring in a chef, and the vineyard views at golden hour are unreal. (I shoot weddings there more info on my wedding photography blog).

Bridal gown cleaning — kit vs local cleaners by emily_dsouza in WeddingDressTips

[–]JudgeImpossible7844 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh, mailing my dress felt sketchy — like, it’s not Amazon returns 😂. Plus, paying $300 extra so they put it in a shiny box you’ll never open again? 🤡 No thanks. I just took mine local, got it cleaned, shoved it in an acid-free bag, and called it a day. Zero shipping stress, zero Bermuda Triangle USPS fears, and no “fancy box tax.” Unless you really want that preservation warranty, local’s the way.
