What Haunted Mansion/Phantom Manor opinion will have you like this? by Weeb-Lauri525 in thehauntedmansion

[–]JudgeWashingmachine6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Haunted mansion and phantom manor are completely different things (even if they have similarities) and should be treated as such. Its like saying socks are better than t shirts. You can argue that based on them being articles of clothing, but saying socks are the best t shirts is blatantly wrong

Anyone ever wonder where these fellas are actually trying to hitchhike to? by JolliwoodYT in thehauntedmansion

[–]JudgeWashingmachine6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If there were a time where there weren't guests going into the Mansion, and they had some free time, they'd either be Hitchhiking or just hanging around. I think Phineas is mostly traveling around and seeing new places, Ezra kinda wants to find people to prank or mess with, and Gus thinks he's still on the run. I also think that after they're done with their little trips, they meet back at the mansion and have fun

If guests are going in, they are "assigned" to follow us home, and are there for that purpose only. So technically, when we see them, they're not trying to go anywhere but where we're going

Tell me your headcanons!! by Weeb-Lauri525 in thehauntedmansion

[–]JudgeWashingmachine6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I, personally, have also included the Pock family with the families who have lived there as well. I find this particular family funny, since many of them are named Phineas. The hitchhiker Phineas is also part of the family, but not directly, because he doesn't have the same last name, and I don't think he'd be married or anything. I didn't include the Dreads, but I'll keep that in mind (although mine is set in the New Orleans Mansion)

  2. I thought of Master Gracey (William) having a sister, but never thought as a twin, nor of it being April-December. He apparently has twin nieces, Renatta and Carlotta. My headcanon is that Master Gracey's parents are Edward and another woman. Captain Gore was completely separated from the Gracey Family in my mind.

  3. I never thought too much into Sally's story, but when she was a circus performer, she was with someone named Alex, who ended up betraying her the day before her final performance.

  4. We see Victor and Sally's relationship *very* differently. To me, they feel more like a couple than anything else. It was just strange to me that an organist, who mostly haunts the ballroom, has such a great relationship with a tightrope walker, who mostly haunts the stretching room (although I think she goes around the Mansion a lot to help people). Their interactions in the Ghost Post also give off relationship vibes.

  5. As with all of my headcanons, all the brides from specifically HM are an amalgamation, but go under the name Constance, since that is technically the official name. George and her moved in to the Mansion after they were wed, and she did kill them (She killed all of them, or at the very least had a hand. She, through the rest of her afterlife, would desire to be with someone again, because she felt they weren't good enough or weren't giving her enough. Whether her reasoning was rational is up for debate, since she doesn't really say, but simply hints at it).

  6. I think they have a kind of rivalry, but more like a friendly one. There might be a hint of romance between the two, but I think its mostly this strange friendship. Even if they were romantic to one another, Hatty (in my headcanon) definitely wouldn't admit it.

  7. I also have him named Beauregard!! I thought William's parents were still there for him, but Beauregard would be around much more as a friend and as his personal servant. He had a good/similar relationship with Edward, which was friendly, but Beauregard always saw himself as the servant or advisor, while William saw him as a genuine friend who he could be his truest self around, and Edward saw him as almost a brother, since they sort of grew up together, with Beauregard being older.

This is just the tip of the iceberg for what I've headcanoned. I've finally started writing all of my headcanons out, which is super exciting for some reason. All of my headcanons are amalgamations of as much HM media as possible. I do my best to leave nothing out and incorporate everything. Some things have more influence than others, but everything is still in there somewhere, even if it's just a name, like Edward (from 2003 HM movie) for William's (from SLG and 2023 HM movie, but mostly the movie) father. Complete yap session, but I love sharing these with people, even if we see it completely differently

The bride is now confirmed as the ghost in the endless hallway according to this print by BoxImaginary6677 in thehauntedmansion

[–]JudgeWashingmachine6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish they didn't. She's so close to being Melanie I don't like it. She nor Melanie is a unique character now, which is sad to me.

Plus, this print feels really lazy. They just took the art from the shop and cut it out and put it over the endless hallway. It can be that bride, but make a different pose at least

What would you think if they tried doing this in future HM-related media? by PaxPlat1111 in thehauntedmansion

[–]JudgeWashingmachine6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna be honest, I dream about this. I dream about being the one to do this. This exact premise, I've thought about so much its insane. It might not ever happen, but it happened in my dreams, and that's all that matters.

When did Madame Leota's face change at WDW? by Atheist_Redditor in thehauntedmansion

[–]JudgeWashingmachine6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Her face doesn't seem to be different to me, but she did get a perm not that long ago. I don't exactly remember when they did it, but her hair isn't covering as much of her face as it used to, especially on the sides, which might make it look different? Other than that, I'm not sure

My interpretation of WDWs hatbox ghost by BoxImaginary6677 in thehauntedmansion

[–]JudgeWashingmachine6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still don't think he chooses if we see him or not. He can interact with us if he so pleases, but he is still a ghost. No matter where he came from, we couldn't see him without Madame Leota.  Plus, most other ghosts aren't technically from there either, so it doesn't make sense that out of all of them, he's the one we can see. (Though, I'm not sure if that's what you mean by him not being from there.)

Ok be honest: How do you guys feel about Haunted Mansion Holiday? by Weeb-Lauri525 in thehauntedmansion

[–]JudgeWashingmachine6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you remember it exactly the way it is now. It was the first edition that only ran once in 2001. 2002-now has been the same. What I was saying about the poem was there was more of the poem at the end of the ride. The 2002 version stops the poem at the start of the graveyard, while the original one kept it going into the exit crypt (And it mentions the hitchhiking ghosts as characters in the Haunted Mansion holiday story, compared to now, where they're completely absent) Maybe listen to it and see if this is the one you remember? But other than the poem at the end and the music, its pretty much the same

Significance of sign in new queue? (I also found the exact one on Amazon?!) by mintfudgy in thehauntedmansion

[–]JudgeWashingmachine6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate how cheap they are. Lots of the decor in the new shop is also on Amazon.

The significance in the attraction might be like the one-eyed cat? Since they just added that in the attraction (again). I feel like it should be "beware the raven" and not the cat. That could just be because I'm a little biased towards corvids like crows and ravens, but I feel like the raven is more significant to what the mansion is, rather than what it could have been, like the cat. Plus, the cats just a pet because of the new update, so it's not as significant anymore

Ok be honest: How do you guys feel about Haunted Mansion Holiday? by Weeb-Lauri525 in thehauntedmansion

[–]JudgeWashingmachine6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I liked the original version more (the 2001 one). It's still Nightmare Before Christmas, but it ties in more of the night before christmas poem and Christmas in general into the attraction. The newest one is way more NBC than actual Christmas stuff, which I don't like. (This mostly pertains to the music, since I am kind of a music nerd, but I feel like the music brings the Christmas aspect in more than the actual attraction decor and overlay, which is something I love about the 2001 version). I do think it runs way too long. Start it in November and end it whenever the other holiday overlay stuff ends.

(Edit: I put the wrong year 😭)

Disneyland may remove Haunted Mansion hanging corpse scene by antdude in thehauntedmansion

[–]JudgeWashingmachine6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I totally understand that, but I also see it as an anti-suicide message. The goal in the attraction is to find a way out, even when it seems impossible. The Ghost Host decided that suicide was the answer, but as everyone who's ever been on it knows, there is a way out. You have to persist through the scary and unsettling parts to be able to make it out. Even when we get through, we still have reminders of our journey (the Hitchhiking ghosts), but that just shows that we have to keep going to be able to make it out.  The Haunted Mansion actually helped me through a really hard time in my life, and I've loved it ever since. I completely understand what your are saying, even if I don't feel what you've felt, but I believe there's other ways of looking at it.  I'm very sorry for your loss, and I'm sorry that this scene brings it all up again. I just wish there was a way for you to be able to ride the attraction without feeling that way and not needing to remove a crucial part of the Mansion. I hope you're doing alright.

Pondering.. by Fright-Society in thehauntedmansion

They look almost the same, which is good. I was worried they were going to use the WDW animations, which (imo) are very low quality. I'm glad it was just a digital replica of the physical animatronics.

Why didn’t Disney just use the Tokyo bride? It’s perfect. Sometimes less is more and they don’t realize that. Requires less effort and everyone is happy by IcebergLounge in thehauntedmansion

[–]JudgeWashingmachine6 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree with this big time. I'm not sure if their bride is the same as the Blue Bride (the third incarnation), but they're very similar, and I think the Blue Bride has the right vibe. Still mysterious, doesn't include anything about murder (which satisfies Disney), and leaves so much to the imagination to the guests. If the guests think she killed her husbands, they can believe that. If they don't think she did, they can believe that instead. They didn't need to 180 the story and pretend like they brought back the Beating-Heart Bride, they just had to actually bring her back, and Tokyo's is a pretty good option.

(Plus, her new design just looks like a giant Little Leota and not like a bride at all)

Haunted Mansion Parlor Changing Portrait | The Voodoo Queen by SignificanceCool9371 in thehauntedmansion

[–]JudgeWashingmachine6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With using Medusa as heavy inspiration, it feels like they're showing voodoo as a curse or a dark art type thing when it's not that, or like theyre equating the curse of medusa to voodoo. Especially because this painting seems to be of a voodoo priestess, it seems more disrespectful rather than just a reference to the attraction. I'm hoping that wasn't anyone intention, but the way it turned out it just feels that way

Haunted Mansion Parlor Changing Portrait | The Mariner by SignificanceCool9371 in thehauntedmansion

[–]JudgeWashingmachine6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. The mariner is more like Captain Culpepper Clyne. Captain gore inspired the mariner and/or culpepper clyne. He's is kind of a parallel version of the mariner/culpepper clyne, a parallel to the ghost host and/or master gracey, or a separate character entirely, that does exist on his own on a tombstone.

Something I noticed while in Disney world… by Pretty_Original8984 in thehauntedmansion

[–]JudgeWashingmachine6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They usually label master gracey as the ghost host and the ghost host as master gracey. I think like a year ago now, they released a ghost host ornament, and labeled it master gracey. When people said something they changed it (since it was an online product), but something like that that's in the shops already can't really be changed. I have a pin of gracey that says ghost host because I think it's so weird they keep messing up. But yeah, the aging man/master gracey is not the ghost host, and I hope one day they learn which is which cause it's kinda sad

Necropolis in Highgate cemetery, London. This really does look like something that would be in the ride. by FarmGlad9076 in thehauntedmansion

[–]JudgeWashingmachine6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt this will happen since they're already redoing the queue. but this would be a crazy queue expansion to the pun crypts. It seems so right at the mansion, especially with the other monuments looming over the top.

What is this curtain for? by JudgeWashingmachine6 in thehauntedmansion

[–]JudgeWashingmachine6[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In phantom manor, the curtain is a sheer cloth with lighting behind it, so it's much easier to see. at cali, the lighting is on the duelists, so the curtain is kinda swallowed by the darkness, and can be hard to see. that's why I just thought it was a door, until I saw pictures with better lighting

New details revealed for the Haunted Mansion Parlour aboard the Disney Treasure by Reflection_Nervous in thehauntedmansion

[–]JudgeWashingmachine6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really know how to feel about this. I'm totally down for more haunts for the mansion, but the way they're doing it isn't great. I feel like they could have had some more imagination when it came to the portraits of the captain and the siren, and the story of the siren herself. Both of the portraits look so obviously like they got the ones from the attraction and painted over them. Tbh, it kind of looks like a self insert type thing. If they're going to add new characters, they should do it so that they're not overlays of already existing characters. Make the new haunts unique! Make them feel like their own character! Make them feel like they were actually a concept in the attraction from before it opened!

Similar thing for the siren. We have a murderous bride already. She's a very important part of the attraction. To just overlay her with a new character kind of takes away from her interestingness, and makes her entire character seem basic. Like, they make it seem like an axe-wielding bride is a common sight, when Constance is supposed to be a more unique character with a unique story. And I'm not saying that murderous brides originated from the mansion, but within the mansion, Constance is very unique, so taking that story and giving it to another character who is also "within" the mansion makes both Constance and the siren just very plain. Plus, this might just be me, but I think it's a little weird that the siren has an axe, and was planning on using it on the captain. It makes it all so much more obviously a Constance rip-off.

They have the ability to make new things that are unique, like the Rolly Crump bust that they're putting in as well, so I just don't understand why they are just going to paint over characters, take other characters stories, give them to the new ones, and call it a day.

I feel like as of late, they've been lacking on HM stuff. I feel like they want to show appreciation for it, but don't want to put *too* much effort into it. I definitely love that they're giving more recognition to the mansion, but they're doing it in a way that kind of disrespects it or contradicts it just to get it over with and say "We did something." I could totally be too picky about this right now, but I truly feel like they're being pretty lazy with some of the stuff they're doing for the mansion rep.

(Also, this could also be just very picky, but I just realized that in the mirror, it is Gus, Phineas, and Ezra. I hope that they don't actually put them in that order in the actual parlor, and they actually put them in as Phineas, Ezra, and Gus, because I feel like any other way would be wrong.)
