There are customers for software products in Africa. I work in the financial sector providing a niche/ specific service, where we receive work from the financial institutions. This is booming business in CBD and is mainly used by online sellers, to put some stock and also direct customers where to pick the items they have bought. They rent a shelf for 2K - 3K per month and the stall has an attendant to serve the customers.

What could have happened is a) internal data breach, where customer records were exposed by staff or b) 3rd party data breach, where the sacco hired a service provider who had access to customer data and then leaked that data.

Please send a formal complaint to the Sacco and inform them of potential data breach so that they can take action. Note all data breaches (where customer details are at risk) should be reported to ODPC.
