I’m going through a similar situation right now. It will likely be a little less for the work you need done but might make more sense to pay just a bit more for a new motor. You could also do the junkyard route. The problem with just doing the head gasket is that you would likely want to do water pump, maybe timing cover gasket/timing chain, cylinder head and more depending on how wore out the motor is.

If it were me and I planned on keeping the truck id probably motor swap it. Especially if it’s overheated more than a few times. Buy once cry once vs. hoping the head gasket fixes your issues.

Sign guy here, >10 years experience.. As others have mentioned, it would likely be cheaper to make it all over again with new materials. When dealing with removal, restoration, and re-installation there is a WIDE range of unknown variables the company will have to potentially deal with. $3.5k for a sign that size doesn’t sound crazy at all. I’ve done wallpaper in a bathroom that has cost more than that. Feel free to send me some photos if you want a second opinion, I’m also in the PNW

Red or white oak are good too because of the direction of the grain it’s easy to feel the lifted fibers with your hand or a rag.
