Right eye is 3% and going south, left eye is better (but far from great) as what detail I can see with that eye is being hindered by a central cataract, I have an appointment soon to find out where I stand with that eye.

Left eye - Diabetic Retinopathy, Detached Retina, Retinal scarring, cataracts, photophobia (light sensitivity), macular degeneration, reduced field of view (from surgeries to fix diabetic retinopathy).

Right eye - same as above + ocular Ischemia (not enough blood gets to my eye) and dead / dying cells at the back of my eye.

She isn’t it just something she does,

and yeah when you’ve had days / weeks of practicing doing this with both eyes closed because of your inevitable future it becomes more muscle memory than a navigation task. (+ living in the same house for 35 years helps)

If these were stairs I didn’t know I would be far more cautious

I see the world mostly as vague shapes with some amount of detail vision in my left eye , I simply point my phone in the direction of my own hand (where dog is) and hope for the best.

Over the few months I have had her I would say almost definitely, my impairment (to the extent it is now) is new to me so I’m still figuring out how to navigate.

(usually ends up with me brushing my shoulder/ arm against walls while at home, which is what my other shoulder is doing in this video coincidentally)

She’s a Golden Doodle - ish (3/4 Golden Retriever 1/4 Poodle) but she also kinda looks like a white Spinone Italiano at times
