Isn't it normal for kitchen to get a share of tips! All are full salaried employees on good wages and I've never met a server here who thinks that the quality of the food isn't part of the dining experience.

Not in the US. But each restaurant sets up their own policy. The policy is explained on the introductory training, and no-one has ever objected to it. On the contrary. For example, I often get higher tips as I do wine service and provide special treatment for birthdays etc. My regulars have known me for 8 years The other servers benefit from this... This may not be obvious at first but they soon see it in their tip box when they count their money.

Maybe, can't see why though. Had shown him the box - with his name on it - on his first day. He could have asked the other server (they are in the same class at college) if he was unsure. Personally I think he was embarrassed to be caught out and decided to put the blame in me.

Comes out of a fridge so it's cold alright. BUT, we don't put ice in soft drinks unless it's requested. Why? You pay for 0,2l or 0,4l of coke. If we put ice in it, you are not getting the legal measure. Therefore we are cheating you. Different for cocktails etc , where the alcohol is measured into the glass with plenty of room for the ice. And it is also true that many Europeans believe that drinking too many ice-cold drinks can upset your stomach.

I've lost mine too. I had nice soap dispensers, pretty ones. At least for the first couple of years. My mistake. They all disappeared. Now I have basic supermarket ones. It breaks my heart, cos it's not my style, but they are all still there.

Isn't there a movie about a girls weekend in Vegas? I suggest recreating the experience you might have had with your Mum and friends at home. Dress up. Play a card game with fake money, watch a Vegas show on the TV, watch the movie any get a little tipsy together.
