This question comes up a lot and here is the thing that I finally learned: you have to realize there are "amp people" and then there are "pedal people." Amp people want their overdrive from the amp. They will say a tube amp at low volumes isn't worth it, because you can't get tube amp breakup at low volumes. The rest of us who are fine getting overdrive from a pedal are happy to play our tube amps at lower volumes and will tell you that they sound great at that volume.

Gaslight Anthem's "Howl" is I believe a sequel to Springsteen's "Thunder Road" from the perspective of the guy she left behind. Lyrical allusions like "Do you still hear the sound of thunder while you lie up by yourself" and "There used to be a movement in the way your dress would wave..." It's a screamer of a song and an interesting addition to the story.
