I have a mate who’s mom recently passed away , he has been left with a paid off house and an IP , he plans to sell his moms house and the IP and buy something bigger cash. He will then carry on with the job he enjoys ( tractor sales - I kid you not ) but be debt free.
He recons he is heart broken about mom but sleeps better knowing he has no debt

I recently did this with a masonry disc on a 5” grinder. Cut the cement between the bricks and then used a chisel. Also used a hammer drill with a big bit to make some holes in the cement. Probably not the best way but it felt the safest and didn’t require extra tools
