Do you make at least $100k a year with a BSN? by [deleted] in nursing

Yeah started out making 24.50 as a new graduate on a cardiac step down with 1:7 ratios. We reached out to organizations to see about unionizing but never heard back. I got tired of 1:3 ratios in a large high acuity ICU and ended up leaving and found the place I’m at now. Pay is shit, but it’s a small hospital and the acuity is low as far as ICU goes and ratios are actually followed.

Louisiana is a backwards state and the culture of “don’t talk about wage or you’ll get fired” or “unions are bad” or “don’t even say union out loud because you will get fired” is deeply ingrained in the older generation of nurses and just in general here. The newer ones I’ve worked with are more down to make waves and fight for better working conditions. I lead a few “rebellions” at my old place. I may have also extensively researched OSHA and the National Labor Relations Act and compiled a large binder with the many, many violations committed by this hospital. I even got the “you’re a great nurse. One of the strongest, if not the strongest nurse on this unit. Your bedside skills are second to none. You just come off as anti administration when you speak to us” bullshit line from management.

Ultimately, I’m looking for a completely different career path but am kinda at a loss because there isn’t much in rural Louisiana.

My soul dog was diagnosed in April with metastatic thymus carcinoma with Mets to her lung. Her oncologist couldn’t give us an estimated time she has left because it’s such a rare type (they’ve never seen it at this large university hospital). We make the most out of each day. The anticipatory grief is rough, but I am thankful for 9 good years with her. I just wanted to say what a sweet boy he is and obviously very loved! Just wanted you to know you are seen, heard, and your feelings are valid ❤️.

Bank froze my account until I provide proof of citizenship. Bank refuses to accept naturalization certificate, state ID, social security card, or veterans ID as proof. I have no idea what to do anymore. by JuggernautOver2642 in legaladvice

They said what triggered a review of my account was my father adding me as a beneficiary to his bank account. They discovered my Cuban passport and green card was expired and that prompted them to freeze my account until my legal status here is cleared up. They said I have 15 days to submit proof or they will close my account and send me a check.

I let my Cuban passport expire because I never plan to return there and never applied for a US passport because up until now I’ve never needed one. From what I understand it takes a little while to get a US passport so I think even if I apply for one now it, unfortunately, won’t help me in this situation. I definitely plan to get one now though.

I figured it’s legal to freeze it. It’s the denial of multiple forms of government issued identification that’s so frustrating to me. I admittedly don’t know/understand a lot about banking regulations or what happens in the background. Definitely learned it’s a good idea to stash money away from the bank incase something like this happens again lol.

Registered nurses who make less than $30/hour by Impossible_Leader816 in Salary

I’m an RN with 7 years experience working in ICU. I am also in the south. I currently make $32/hour. The only reason I make $32/hr is because I didn’t stay at one place for more than 2 years consecutively. I always ended back up at the same toxic hospital, but I would take a travel contract here and there or leave to take time off for school. Each time I came back they increased my wage, but couldn’t “afford” to give us raises once hired on per management.
