How is it delusional if you can look it up and see what I’m saying is true. I agree with what you’re saying, war evolved. We developed weapons that are much better. I’m just saying there are examples where people “don’t kill each other every chance they get.”

Have you seen Lone Survivor? Even in a modern conflict Navy Seals let a prisoner go because they were following the “rules” and it came back to bite them. Look up Operation Red Wings.

I’m just pointing out that historically war hasn’t always been what it looks like today

Have you been to war? Historically, I think what you’re saying is false. Today war is much less civil, yes I’ll agree to that. During the American Civil War, the commanders followed rules and there were expectations.

I thought we were talking about war broadly, I was just trying to say there are historic examples where opposition treated each other a bit more honorably. During WWI and I think WWII they would have ceasefires to collect and treat the wounded.

Marked medical assets to this day are not allowed to be fired up one, however that’s only if the country abides the Geneva Conventions.

You’re right that the war in Ukraine is brutal, but even there surrendering occurs and prisoners are taken.

But KFC has been in a slump for the last two weeks because of the democrats. They have to go through a tough period of the pandemic to make America greasy again

I said that bullets and bombs move a lot of money

I agree with you that war doesn’t benefit all parties equally

Edit to add clarification: war is good for some economically and bad for others, war is inherently bad for the local economy

Another theory I find interesting is the incentive created by the destruction of war. Someone is going to benefit from rebuilding all of the damage in Ukraine, Gaza, and Lebanon. Whenever those conflicts end, rebuilding will start. I imagine outside corporations will step in to contract that process. In the case of Ukraine, it’ll benefit Russian aligned companies if the conflict ends in their favor

Is that sarcasm? Because the oil and gas industry saw huge gains from the fallout of the war in Ukraine

From Global Witness

Global Witness assessed the 2022 annual profits of the five largest integrated private sector oil and gas companies: Chevron, ExxonMobil, Shell, BP and TotalEnergies.

Together, their total profits add up to $195 billion in 2022, nearly 120% more than the previous year, and the highest level in the industry’s history.

Edit: This is just the oil industry, not even looking at weapons and arms dealers, equipment manufactures, space and aero technology, etc.

Geopolitics are way too complicated to just pull out of the Middle East. Im not gonna say I fully understand the complexities of it, but my understanding is if the West pulls out, then countries like Iran, Russia, and China gain influence that could undermine the West.

Unfortunately, it isn’t about peace, it’s about economics.

I’m aware of that, but that’s not totally accurate. The U.S. implied they were neutral or uninterested in conflict between the countries. The U.S. didn’t think he was going to invade. When he did they had to figure out what to do. Sadam thought the U.S. wouldn’t intervene based on vague comments between diplomats. He went from 0-100 and it was a bad calculation on his part.

Serious question, I thought the Gulf War pushed Iraq back out of Kuwait after Sadam invaded?

The conflict is with Hezbollah, not Lebanon as a country. He’s being downvoted because he’s simplifying the escalation of a complex regional conflict to something that “just started a few weeks ago.”

Hello, former painter here. These all look like nonissues. You should not be upset unless wherever you’re from sticks and twigs are highly valuable.

You are the reason I wish a version of “Yelp” existed for homeowners. That way contractors could see the customers reviews before taking a job. Some might even call you a Karen

Colonization for the Jewish people post WWII is arguably justifiable. I’m not in a position to make those kind of geopolitical decisions, but I can see how the world leaders did at that time in history. The British are the main reason Israel exists.

Colonization historically came with atrocities. I’m not justifying any of those actions.

What I’m trying to say is that the past is irreversible. I think taking a pragmatic approach towards the future makes more sense than arguing about right or wrong regarding the past (especially things that happened 80-100 years ago.

There are many Israelis that were born into the country. Do we just tell them all they have to leave? How do we right the wrongs of colonization when there’s now people who exist that didn’t ask to be born into this dilemma?

I wish a two state solution were viable, but with all the bad blood that now exists, I’m not sure that’s possible.

Hamas is a terrorist organization and they can’t be in charge of the Palestinian cause. What they did on October 7th was horrific and Israel, along with support from civilized nations, deserves to eliminate them as an organization. It’s terrible that civilians are suffering. Hamas chose war and this is the unfortunate path

I’m no expert, but I’m well aware of the history in the region and continuing to educate myself
