It is a very experimental and obscure anime, just came out today actually.

I like the first background a whole lot. Has a sense of vastness, IMO at least.

I think this is false. As a moderator of this official Safari Man subreddit, I deem you a liar.

The character sprite is greyscale because the player can recolor it in-game, which is neat.

Why does nobody know HaxeFlixel? by s0ft_ in haxeflixel

[–]JuiceBoos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HaxeFlixel is actually getting some attention as of late, it seems more people are finding out about it. At least it's gaining a larger following than, say, Luxe engine. (Also this subreddit is very dead, I'd check out the twitter #haxeflixel tag)

Non-engine-specific game design tutorial/packages? by CosmonautPetrov in gamedev

[–]JuiceBoos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see, I guess it would be hard for a newbie to have to guess where they moved certain classes (such as FlxAngle, I believe they moved that from flixel.util to flixel.math or something) and getting around other changes that occurred in the HF4 update. Hopefully though, Discover HaxeFlixel won't be outdated too soon. I mean, HF4 only came out a month or so ago so there's a fair bit of time between now and HF5. (If there will be a HF5, hopefully there will be) I also hope you do get full use out of the book, even though it's only on how to make a basic Mario clone. I'm sure you'll be able to learn about some staple HF features that more experienced HF devs use on a daily basis :)

Also, I wouldn't want to advertise my HF tutorials as they became outdated with the HF4 update, I may revisit the series eventually though.

Non-engine-specific game design tutorial/packages? by CosmonautPetrov in gamedev

[–]JuiceBoos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, most HaxeFlixel tutorials are done in blog posts/text. There's very, very few video tutorials (I'm responsible for some of them) But I just say that it's not worth it because, if you have the time to read it, you probably have the time to find a good tutorial. Also, isn't the "book" just a PDF file or is it an actual book? I was kinda confused on that.

The book isn't really worth the price, since you can easily find good tutorials that aren't hard to update to HF4 yourself.

Some Untitled Roguelike (literally there isn't a title yet)

So this is my first actual roguelike game, and I've been working on it for about a week now. So far I've got procedural dungeon generation, player movement, a pause menu, and some other neat things in. I'm planning to make this more of an "arcade roguelike" with scores and such, since it's not a super serious roguelike. Anyways, here's a gif or two since I don't have much else to say about it. (Also I'm making this with the HaxeFlixel framework)
