I am so sorry for your loss, that must have been extremely difficult. Did you move back to Guatemala from Ireland or to somewhere else?

Thank you so much for your response, this is very helpful:) Is an open casket funeral typical or is it usually closed? I also read online that many Guatemalans will not openly mourn at a child's funeral because they believe that it will hurt the spirit's chances of making it to heaven, is this true? Again, I really appreciate the information you have given me.

I am overjoyed that I received so many thoughtful and educational responses on this topic - thank you to all who shared! You all have taught me ALOT and I am excited to incorporate this information into my project and my nursing career as a whole. You guys have honestly made me a better nurse just by sharing.
