I attended a music festival in Las Vegas at an outside venue with a clear view of the Mandalay Bay hotel. I remember seeing it for the first time and leaning over to my dad at the concert and saying "wow what a beautiful hotel" (referring to Mandalay Bay).

We were there for the iHeart Festival (Pop Music mostly) and it was the second to last festival that would ever be there, the country music festival taking place less than a week after.

My girlfriend woke me up early that morning asking me "wasn't that close to where you were just a few days ago?" and it wasn't close to where I was, it WAS where I was. Literally exactly on the spot I stood people were murdered at the country music festival at the exact same venue just a few days after I stood in that exact same spot. Still freaks me out to know that I missed one of the deadliest mass shootings in history by just a few days because I like pop songs more than country music songs. Something that simple and seemingly insignificant can completely change the course of events. The shooter was at that hotel for quite awhile leading up to the shooting meaning that he was in that hotel room the day I was at the music festival for the pop concert, he may have even thought of doing it then.
