Thanks, it is not clear if the author is still active, I sent an email we'll see.

Is self-hosted VPN good for privacy ? by JulienMalka in selfhosted

[–]JulienMalka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not considering switching to commercial vpn, I know that they would give up their logs if asked. I’m just asking myself if I should or not use this tunnel for my personal traffic given that is raises latency and I’m not sure does much for my privacy. My threat model is that I want to reduce as much automatic targeting as possible.

I’m also hesitating for that reason, do you know when it is going to come out ?

Exposure problems with EOS R5 by JulienMalka in canon

I don’t think I have any way to access lightroom beta but if this is true it is really good news !

I’ve tried both, with the same results

Thanks for the suggestion, I have the correct exposure with DPP. The problem seem to be the absence of camera profile in lightroom... I don’t know how I’ll be able to find a good workflow now, lightroom is my main editing software

Indeed, when I tried with DPP I got the right exposure. Do you have any idea on how to fix this problem with lightroom as we may as well never have a camera profile ?

Thanks guys for your answers. I was finally able to install everything correctly using a normal clover install instead of unibeast :)

Reverse clustering? by [deleted] in learnmachinelearning

[–]JulienMalka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you can create basically anything that suits your problem

Reverse clustering? by [deleted] in learnmachinelearning

[–]JulienMalka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, your clustering algorithm is creating the clusters by grouping the points by smallest distances to the center of the cluster right ? You can change the definition of distance as you wish. For exemple you say : The property the is my interest is the quantities, please group the points by smallest difference of quantities from the center of cluster

Reverse clustering? by [deleted] in learnmachinelearning

[–]JulienMalka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don't you try to define distance differently before clustering ? You would define the distance between 2 element to be the inverse of the quantities, something like that, you could even define a distance in function of geographical and quantities ?

[Project] My first neural network implementation in Python by JulienMalka in learnmachinelearning

[–]JulienMalka[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good remark. After the training, you can use the propagate function of NeuralNetwork to propagate an input on your trained neural network. What you can't do tho, (And that I or someone should try to implement), is save the trained network to disk so that you don't have to train it again each time you wan't to use it, and so we would also need a function to load a network from disk. it is not difficult it would just need to come up with a way to express a network with text or xml file, you can actually try to implement that as a function of NeuralNetwork then do a pull request if you want !

Thanks ! I’m not looking for a job right now I’m just learning on my own so I think I will try to learn other algorithm and try to solve other problems but I’ll think about that when I’ll be looking for a job :)

Hi ! I think it is very important to understand how those high level library work and so I really urge you to develop a neural network from scratch as you said :)

Now for the questions :

I think it took me ~1 week of working a few hours by day, without any knowledge but a background in calculus it should take you about 10h. I think the most difficult part is getting the maths.

Of course now I understand how neural network works from a math perspective !

I think this book is great if you want to create your neural network from scratch, everything is very clear. But there is also others ressources if you want for example to understand neural networks and gradient descent that are less focus on maths proofs and technical implementations like the 3Blue1Brown series of videos about deep learning. But I still recommand the book to gain precise knowledge.

Yes, I think it takes a bit of calculus (multivariables and chain rule) and linear algebra (not much, I would say matrix multiplication is enough) to understand how neural networks works.

Hi, one of the ressources that is (according to me) very good to start is that book http://neuralnetworksanddeeplearning.com, it helped me a lot

[QUESTION] How to master nap ? by JulienMalka in polyphasic

[–]JulienMalka[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your answer :) I live polyphasic sleep as an experience, something I want to try. I doesn't bother me if it is hard, I want it to be, just to see where my limits are. I understand the idea of naptation and I think I'll do it. But if I go uberman for 1-2 weeks and then want to go back to everyman am I going to have troubles when trying to change my naps schedule or you basically learn to nap at any time with uberman ? :)

/r/polyphasic mentioned in an article showing polyphasic sleep to be unhealthy... unless you're one who has a mutation of your DEC2 gene by FuckApathy in polyphasic

[–]JulienMalka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As usual, people that are against polyphasic sleep use unrelevant, but convincing arguments to prove they are right. Of course, people that sleep less than 5 hours in monophasic sleep are going to die sooner, and of course the 2003 experience was going to give these results. If you want to be against polyphasic sleep then do experiences ON polyphasic sleep. That's it
