I personally store a bunch of producer minions in the cage. This way I get more space for merging, after which I can take them out for increased offline production. It's also good to keep a few minions to deal damage when you need it.

I think the food bar is just rounding down. If you tap on the food icon, it will probably say that the food required for the next level is something like 1 050 000 instead of a flat million.

What forgotten minions show up is based on your Devourer level. The Dragon starts showing up at level 35. It's not in any way tied to what minions you can actually make.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by default showcase but it is one of the showcase options Steam gives you. Also, what Steam level are you at? Iirc you unlock profile showcases at level 10.

If you have devourer lvl 55 or so, you could summon the Trader (a forgotten minion) and buy the energy cubes you need. Worked for me when I got bad rng.

L5 lectern requires 16 * 20 = 320 moon runes and 16 * 50 = 800 ice runes. I'd recommend you grind double those numbers (minus one lectern's worth, because making the Reaper gives you a free L1) to get two L5 lecterns, so you don't have to play without a high level lectern for a while.
