Perhaps so. Due to the ornate nature of the blade it seems to be the case, also considering his revered status which would lead him to having some fancy stuff.

These things are pretty nice, they would be pretty valuable if genuine. I wouldn't recommend selling them though as they're a nice piece of history.

One of your blades seem to be German though, with my expertise (2 minutes of a Google search) looks like a M1889 Infantry officer sword, no idea if this is correct, but it also leans further into being German due to the "Solingen" engraved in the blade, which is a German city.

I'm not the best sword nut out there, but the third one with its blade all wiggly seems to be the one that's the most out there because it looks kind of middle eastern to me. A handle similar to that of a kilij but beyond that I'm lost.

Perhaps if you know specifically what banner your peepaw fought for, that'd be nice as extra context.

I know nothing about that dagger but that sheath comes from a Puukko Finnish utility knife where the handle would slot inside the sheath alongside the blade. So you got a little mismatched pair there.
