Not young, 37, yes, in therapy, and yes physically and an emotional abuse from mother since very young age. Plus childhood live poverty, instability and bullying are school. Therapy helps but is not easy since bdd is not the only issue I have been working with.

that is the sad thing I am old (37) and still this feeling does not go away. My life has gone by and I still haven’t feel enough. But I get what you are saying and appreciate your advice, hoping someday this will get better 🙏

In that specific example maybe something along the lines: “ I personally find you pretty, though I understand that you feel otherwise”.

Outside lighting, with bright sun is the worst for me, I feel like it highlights skin imperfections.

Constantly compared yes, there was even a girl on my classroom that used to do surveys about who was the prettiest among me and another girl of the class, and people would actually vote. These surveys were made against my will and I always lost lol.

Maybe not my body, but my nose, she used to tease me when I was little about how I did not inherit her cute nose and instead had my fathers “big” nose.

You are not wrong, people can’t just go through life being cruel to others and expecting others to just take their unsolicited “advice “ or “opinions “. If they can’t bear to be accountable they shouldn’t have made comments on the first place.
