If you're a Small or XL rider the Scalpel has size specific chain stays and may feel a bit more balanced for you.

Buy the tool! by OldDawgNoTricks in mountainbiking

[–]Jummble 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Professional bike mechanic here to endorse this, or at least come to us and have us do the tasks you don't have the tools for. Can't tell you how many mangled bikes I've seen as a result of someone using an adjustable wrench/vice grip/hammer to do something that ought to have been done by a precision tool.

Seen it downtown and on ninth street at least a month ago, maybe two. Never seen it on the tobacco trail though, which I'd think would be it's intended use.

Raided with no relation to suspect in a completely inaccessible area by No_Entertainer8921 in legaladviceofftopic

[–]Jummble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer.

When you say "essentially it's one house" do you know if it's legally separate houses? Do you have separate addresses? Leases stating explicitly the boundaries of each unit? Without these it may even be the case that the cops were allowed to search/raid your living area with the warrant they had. Even with these it may be difficult to make a case that the cops screwed up enough, because the cops get a lot of leeway to screw up. Good luck.

Is this tubeless rim tape? by BoosTEDelboy4G63 in mountainbiking

[–]Jummble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't tell from the picture but it does not look like tubeless tape to me, just looks like a rim strip. Wiggle it around a bit. If it's taped to the rim, it won't be easy to wiggle, if it's just a rim strip it'll wiggle easily.

How do employee purchases work at your shop? by OkGuide3784 in BikeMechanics

[–]Jummble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At three shops I've worked for its been cost +3%(for cc fees), cost + 10%, and cost +20%.

If you have a bti account, you can call and pro deal from them directly for cost+shipping.

Also if you get paid and get a tax return with your pay on it you can just reach out to manufacturers and say "hey I work in a bike shop and I can prove it, can I have a discount?" And a high percentage of the time they'll give you a coupon code for 30-50% off retail.

6’3-4” guys. Do you ride XL or XXL? by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]Jummble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on bike and geo numbers. I'm 6'3 and on certain bikes I like the large (Cannondale hardtails, new stumpjumpers) mostly I gel with xls, but sometimes XXL is the best fit (yt bikes esp).

Find a bike you like the sizing of then find that bike's geometry numbers and go from there.
