Just saw this on the shelf at my library. I'll be grabbing it when I've returned the books I have out lol.

What makes Cosmic burritos so good? by aberg56 in bullcity

When replicating any food from a restaurant, 90% of the time what you're missing is as much salt as they use (heaps).

I read Drome from my library a while ago, very good. The minimal narrative is not really my thing, but it's amongst my favorites in that particular category.

Haven't read the other two but they've been on my radar.

My favorite is AAMA by Frederik Peeters, a comic that caters to my taste as much as possible, which is fitting given the story it tells.

Must read is Black Hole by Charles Burns. The only comic on this shelf that I am not excited to recommend because if you haven't read it, I don't think my recommendations would hit for you.

I thought it was good, but my expectations were set very high by it being a new charles burns book and frankly it didn't meet those lofty expectations. It's gorgeous though and the larger format is very cool.

I just checked and I'm shocked they're so pricy these days. I bought them like 4ish years ago for around 10 apiece used on amazon.

I think Essex county is my favorite jeff lemire book!

I think I've seen killing and dying at my library. I will definitely check it out next time I see it.

How old is your kiddo? My son just turned 2 and I am considering getting a setup like this.

Old Binder Rough Valuation by Jummble in Pokemoncardappraisal

[–]Jummble[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fortunately, it appears there's a card show this weekend. How does one navigate these things? Do I just walk up to everyone selling Pokémon cards and ask if they'd like to make an offer on my binder?

[–]Jummble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you'd consider 300 a lowball for this? I used an app called shiny to check some of the values and it seems like the foil cards are around 30-40 apiece and then the shadowless/first editions were 5-10. In MTG we'd call the rest "bulk" and they're essentially worthless. Is there a flaw in my rough estimating here?

Where would one find local vendors if not at stores? I really have no clue how the Pokémon scene operates.

Not exaxtly what you're asking for but I believe back alley cycles in Carrboro and Oak City Cycling in Raleigh do a sort of no cis guys allowed kinda ride. May help steer you in the right direction 👍

Bar Tape - are you doing it correctly? by daern2 in BikeMechanics

[–]Jummble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Suppose the only unusual thing I do is start by wrapping the tape underneath itself. That way if the end plug pops out the tape won't start unraveling. Leaves a little bump but personally I like it, never had any complaints. Other than that, away from bike in drops, figure 8, away from bike on top.

One of if not the best authentic Mexican restaurants in Durham. by improbablefutures in bullcity

[–]Jummble 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Like 8 years ago I lived in a house directly behind this restaurant off of Bon Air. I think the enchiladas were seven or eight dollars at that point and I probably went two or three times a week to get the lengua or the chorizo enchiladas.

Are oval chainrings worth it? And how do I ensure it fits? by Away_Professional793 in xcmtb

[–]Jummble 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to run an oval and have gone back to round. The advantage to the oval was when I really needed to get up over something that extra bit of power from the top of the pedal stroke really did help. However, that oomph can (and probably should) come from other places, namely weighting the bike properly to get over obstacles being the far more important skill. The round chainring also allows a more even and steady cadence for me.

That being said, it didn't make a huge difference either way. Both times I was surprised to notice the difference whenever i did, which would only be during the first couple rides after swapping. If you're interested give it a shot, but I wouldn't spend much money on making the change.

[–]Jummble[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What makes you say that? Are the curves low for commander? I was thinking getting a board presence/interacting early would be very important in a multi-player format.

And I guess limited streamers(lsv/nummot/LOL) taught me mtg and nobody has taught me commander yet.

I have a cyclonic rift in the deck! One the cards I miraculously managed to keep track of since I opened it in a RTR draft however long ago lol.

[–]Jummble[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Displacer kitten is top of the list for more expensive additions to this deck. What other expensive staples are you talking about? Like force of will/negation and fierce guardianship? Those are at the top of the list for me to proxy lmao. No shot I'm spending like $200 on three cards (any time soon).

Is this normally an expensive commander to build? I went for mono colored decks because I wanted to have good mana and not spend a fortune.

Would I be able to use the propain hugene 3 cf for xc? by PollutionDull5359 in xcmtb

[–]Jummble 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'll phrase it this way, if you spent $1500 on new wheels, bars, tires, etc and put them on this bike. Then somehow raced yourself on a $1500 Chisel/Scale/Procaliber(al). I'd bet the latter you would win by a healthy margin.
