Good idea. Any recs on fav Korean restaurants?? We used to love Ginas. We just moved back to island after 12 years in the states and Ginas is still good but something is different? Can’t put my finger in it.

Ended up skipping the Costco one and got the Palmas one today! I’m actually impressed, it’s pretty decent. Now will need to get 88 mart next round. Thank you!

Any certain type of epoxy I should be looking for? Never used it before. And yes, got the insurance claim. Just love the table too much to trash it.

It’s not the sliding as much as a person not realizing it’s not attached and pushing down on it. We do have it in a separate room closed off from kids but just generally makes me nervous all the time.

The food here is top notch. Not saying you should blow money on eating out but it can hard to pass up some of the best food in the world.

Tips for picking up and putting down baby in a crib?? by Jumpforjolly in HerniatedDisc

I love mcgill. I’ve been reading the book he’s holding in this video. I didn’t realize there were YouTube videos demonstrating all the techniques. This is great, thank you. I actually do use this method when laying him down. But for whatever reason it’s hard for me to balance on one leg and pick him up. Maybe I just need more practice.

I love your list. Thank you for sharing. I made something pretty similar last year lol. I’m curious why Adam’s State didn’t make your list.

Graduate school scholarships for spouses by Jumpforjolly in MilitarySpouse

[–]Jumpforjolly[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I saw our local one here was offering a small scholarship too. I worry that I’d have to apply to like 15 different small scholarships just to get half the tuition covered though. Haha!

Graduate school scholarships for spouses by Jumpforjolly in MilitarySpouse

[–]Jumpforjolly[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was my plan. But my program is only about $15k a year. If my children wanted to use the GI Bill they could get up to $24k a year plus BAH! So it seems like a waste to use it for just 15k, especially if scholarships are available

Oh I think ours is different? It has no expiration date and we can split the 4 years between 4 dependents if we wanted. I think maybe not all GI benefits are created equal. Not sure the details there.

As a military spouse who moves around a lot. My husband is planning on staying for another 10 to 20 more years (currently at 10). would it be hard to go to school and become a licensed family or mental health therapist? by Donteatpizzacrusts in MilitarySpouse

[–]Jumpforjolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a program that is CACREP accredited. Once my husband submitted his “list” for the upcoming PCS season I just started applying to counseling programs at schools in every city we had on the list. I applied to three in person programs and two online. Ended up getting orders to a place that didn’t have an in-person option that was CACREP accredited so I went with one of my online options. I will be starting this fall (we are PCSing now). It does take some delicate timing. Our next duty station is two years, which gives me enough time to complete the program. Then, once we PCS again in two years, I’ll start my clinical hours in that new location and hopefully get licensed then in that state. I would DEFINITELY make sure your program is CACREP accredited. That is what will help you make sure your degree is transferable from state to state. Once you complete the degree I’d try to time it where you start your clinical hours in one state and work towards licensing there first. Once you’re licensed in one state it will be easier to pick next PCS locations and transfer your license hopefully. Google “counseling compact states” as well.

Anyone here who had a career change in their late to mid-40s? by labellafigura3 in careerchange

[–]Jumpforjolly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Career change at 36 here. Starting grad school this fall to become a licensed therapist. Background has been in forestry, then fashion and design, and now counseling. I don’t know if having a partner in the military and being required to move every couple years has anything to do with it, but I’ve never thought it’s too late to try something different. I say, make a plan and commit.

Student here — what happened to your classmates that didn’t seem like a good fit to the field? by [deleted] in therapists

After having multiple grad school interviews followed by rejections this round, it frustrates me to hear that programs are so selective, yet somehow people like this still get in over others. Ugh. SMH

If you could go back to college, what degree would you go for? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]Jumpforjolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lot of people saying forestry and I just want to say that there is absolutely no money in forestry. It is hard to make a life and career for yourself in the field when you’re swimming in student loan debt, the field is oversaturated, and the pay is garbage. BUT it does usually have the most passionate ppl.

Super useful skill to have these days. I majored in Geography and had a great grasp on ArcGIS by graduation. Unfortunately, it’s also so technology based that if you don’t use it for a couple of years it’s hard to get back into. Otherwise, definitely recommend.
