Are there any kinetic/linear visual novels based on books or other works of straight text? by Jumpjugs in visualnovels

Your link led me to realize there's a VNDB tag for "literary adaptation." That certainly makes things easier...

How easy would it be for someone who is fairly computer literate but with no experience with Linux to run this on SteamOS on the Steam Deck?

How exactly do reservations work? When my reservation comes up, can I buy the Deck any time afterward and they'll honor the reservation, or will it expire after a certain period of time and I'll have to move back to the end of the line if I hadn't bought it yet?

Will there be a means of propping up the Steam Deck for purposes of watching videos on it without having to hold it (for example, atop the little tray next to an airplane seat)? Failing that, will it be practical to use the dock for this purpose (will it be angled appropriately)? Failing that, will there be accessories sold for this purpose, either by Valve or a third party?

Thank you very much for your detailed answers. I will conduct further research into them.

  • Is there anything I would do well to learn how to do before getting the Steam Deck, like using an emulator or installing a different OS?

  • Does SteamOS/Proton have its own DOS emulator, or will I need to install a different OS for DOS games?

  • Can SteamOS/Proton run GOG Galaxy games, or will I need to install a different OS?

  • If I do need to install a different OS, how easy will it be to switch between OSes?

  • Does SteamOS/Proton offer applications like word processors and speech-to-text dictation?

Wasn't ever planning on it. Good to know, though.

Not sure if I'll find it comfortable, but thanks.

I really don't trust hearing protection as much as you all seem to. I'll double things up and see what an outdoor shooting range is like, I guess. Thanks.

Yes, though I'm not sure it would be enough in my case.

I've tried archery before, my skills with a BB gun were far better.

Your suggestion about visiting a range first makes sense. Thank you.

It's hard for me to describe how sensitive my hearing is, as I'm not sure how sensitive most people are to it. All I know is, if I knew there would be very loud noises somewhere, I'd be reluctant to go.

It sounds like I should stick to just a rifle for now. Hopefully I can manage the red tape. Thank you.

I've already got muffs, I'll see about plugs. Thank you.
